well, those things /will/ generate 1080p outputs, yes, but the TV won't accept them. HDMI & component all cap out at 1080i with everything we've tried.

That's what they say if you talk to them on the phone.. We've tried twice, got 2 different operators, and that's what they say. Combined with the evidence that everything we hook up to it only locks in at 1080i, and forcing 1080p over HDMI winds up with "Unsupported Signal", it seems Sharp...

Do any "terrestrial broadcast"s do 1080p? I'm pretty sure that DirectTV & such stop at 1080i, and most TV stations are only doin 720 right?

Can some explain the difference between Digtal and Analog Circuits?

Ahh, thanks for the pointer to ZZF, I forgot about them. If the 6800GS is considered the "good" choice, then which is better eVGA 6800GS ($223 with $20 Mail-in Rebate) or the BFG 6800GS ($199)..

To google ??? If you open explorer (like My Computer, or even IE) and type in the address bar "\\ipaddress" it takes you to google ? No http or anything.. Just \\ip . Try using the Start->Run and typing in \\ip there..

It could take a few minutes before it appears there (have to wait for the Windows browser to do it's thing). if you don't want to wait, you can just open Explorer and type \\ipaddress or \\computername

Well.. if you ping the same hostname before you VPN and it works, and it fails while you're VPN'ed, then it's not a Caching DNS problem

Is ping failing to resolve hostnames, or are you just seeing 100% packet loss with ping? If it's the 2nd, then the host at the other end may simply just be blocking ping packets. Also, do you have a caching DNS system setup locally that may cause some commands to resolve?

Yup... And if it's really a router, then it'll probably automatically assign you IP's via DHCP, so you won't even have to do that. Should just be plug-n-play at that point. If you mean a Switch or Hub, tho, then you'll still have to assign IP's manually.

Yeah, the odds of using the full 450W is pretty slim, as most power supplies will burn out if fully loaded for just a few minutes, much less 30 days :) But the OP said he wanted a worst-case number for comparison... As for the 10c, I pulled it from my provider: www.entergy.com

Shouldn't be hard to compute... 400W * 24 Hrs a day * 30 days a month = 288,000 W*Hours = 288Kw*Hours.. So given ~ $0.10 per KwH, you're lookin at $28.80 ... If you actually consume 400W on your system.

Seems one obvious application would be the design of antennae & systems that can do radio transmissions through obstacles better, meaning better Wifi & Cell phone coverage through trees or buildings. Maybe Line-of-sight won't be such a huge deal in a few years...
