Hi, I plan to swap in my old Amd 2800+ into a computer with a 2600+. I don't need to swap the motherboard or any other parts, so will I have to reinstall windows and format, ect, ect just for a CPU swap??

OCing with Asus BIOS is easier then ever. Just go into the bios and Im pretty sure its under 'CPU and Voltage configuration" or something of the like, and change the Overclock setting from Auto to 10% and bam, you got 2.42 ghz. Watch temps though. On my 4400 I run non-ODed at 32 degrees C...

See, I was seeing two entries in Device manager under Processors, and in System, it showed that I had the correct processor (amd 4400 x2) but when I went into task manager > Performance > View > CPU History > the box was grayed out to check. That was my main problem...after my first problem...

I went through the repair setup thing after booting from my cd, but I got stuck when it had me choose which windows drive to repair. There was only one option to choose (i have windows installed on only one drive) and so I chose that one, and then it just said

Let me just understand something,
Does this mean that it is only seeing once processor, even though it shows 2 in the device manager (see pic).

The first one is the one that I have been using. There isn't one that says multiprocessor.

Yeah, the processor thing is what I was wondering about. Im pretty sure it can handle dual CORE. It would be a horrible marketing flaw on Microsofts part not to allow that with Home.
