The 1011 BIOS and Nvidia 6.85 N4 drivers cleaned up a lot of BSOD problems I was having. Do NOT use the N4 firewall or active armour.

Do you mean it won't POST or just wont load windows. I suppose you already did the f8 "load last configuration that worked" option if it gets through POST. If you get it to load in safe mode, disable the n force 4 firewall and activearmour. They're both bad news.

ASUS has released a new BIOS, 1011.004 BETA. Does anyone have any information on how it affects performance or what it fixes?

You have to take a further step if you're using 3rd party antivirus and/or firewall. Nvidia's NV4 has a (to me) nasty little program which runs by default called "active armor". My system went BSOD continuosly until I shut it down. Go to Nvidia Corp > Network Access Manager to disable it...

Venice 3000+ Version E3 Just a thought. Is your memory CAS 2 or 2.5? If you're OCing memory, try the auto setting.

Try updating to the new 1010 bios.

I had the same experience. Someone said the controller defaulted to 333 with 4 sticks but I found out you can manually change it back to 400.

Even though BIOS sees your USB Floppy, the F6 function is programmed to look for a conventional floppy. Have you tried going into the BIOS Device Configuration menu and enabling NVRaid? I believe you will then be able to setup your RAID drives and load your OS

The solution was very simple. Go to bios, advanced, cpu config, dram config, timing; select manual and go to memclock index value and select 400. Problem solved.

I have my 4 sticks in place and have the pagefile set to 0. I had this setting for 2 years with my P4 3.06ghz Intel system but maybe AMD is different. I'll just wait and see what happens but so far, it SEEMS to be a little faster.

Well I've already paid $85 for the additional 1GB memory and would kind of like to use it. For one thing, you don't need a swapfile with 2GB so I'll probably try it as you suggest.

QUOTE Are you using 2GB as four 512MB modules? When four modules are used, the memory has to drop down to DDR333 speed due to the physical limitation of the memory controller. However, you should not experience instability with four modules unless perhaps one of them is bad... Yes, I have...

I should probably give my complete configuration System runs great with 1GB MEM at DDR400 Many BSODs with 2GB memory at DDR333 ---------------------------------------- AMD 64 X2 4400+ MSI NS7800 GTX 2GB DDR Corsair Memory 300GB SATA HD SoundBlaster Audigy 2 Platinum:confused:

I have a problem with 2GB of memory. With 1G installed, the POST message says the memory is DDR400, but with 2G installed, it says 333. I'm using the new 1010 BIOS. Is there a setting in BIOS to correct this? The system is a lot more stable with 1G.
