does anyone know of anyway besides format and low level format to wipe a hard drive of all the information? The reason I want to do this is because I tried to installwindows xp home edition and had problems with the install so I tried to fdisk and format the c:/s and it wouldn't format it again...

i am running windows me and want to install win 98se without formatting my hdd. I went to add / remove programs and there was no me uninstall program there and win me won't let me install 98se over top of win me. does anyone know of a way I can install win 98 se without blowing out my hdd again...

problem with mouse after running y2k bug fix

last year a friend of mine downloaded and ran a y2k bug fix ever since then he's got to boot with this floppy disk or he doesn't have use of the mouse. He's running windows 98se. Any ideas how to fix this problem? Thanks Mike

The OS is only seeing 2 gig but when I go into the BIOS it's reporting 2512 mb. That's why I said 2 gig.

I don't know if there is something wrong with cd. it's been ok up to this point. Do you think if I run Spinrite by Gibson research that might tell me something. This system is brand new. I just got don building it. Thanks Mike

I am running win 98 se. I keep getting different error messages from different dll files. i.e. mshtml.dll. I tried fdisk and formatting the hdd with the /s switch but they keep coming back. any ideas? Thanks Mike

problem with creative labs cd rom 52x driver

It comes up on the boot screen and that's it except when I installed win 98 se it worked with the virtual driver.

I put a creative lab 52x ide cd rom in my brothers system and it doesn't show up in my computer. I went through add new hardware. I edited config.sys and autoexec.bat with the vide-cdd.sys and mscdex.exe files to no avail. any help would be appreciated. It's running win/98 se. Thanks Mike

I just put a riva tnt2 32mb video accelerator in my machine and I can't change the settings. There is only two options (2 colors or 16 colors) How can I change this. the screen is real grainy. Thanks Mike

A friend of mine has an emachine. About a month ago he was having problems with a vxd file so got a copy and copied it to the system files but it didn't fix the problem, so I fdisked and format C: /s his hard drive and installed win98se. everything was seemingly ok. But now he tells me it hangs...

I reinstalled Win/98 se for a friend and there is no sound from music cd's. The sound card is ok because there is sound coming from the speakers from other software. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.I also checked the volume control and it's not muted. It worked before I reinstalled...
