Well, no. I think I may have been right about the update thing. I think the function was part of a recent update cuz this one(my HP pavilion laptop) and my pavilion dektop both are current and both do it. But my Dell isn't up to date and it doesn't do it. All three are on XP Home SP2 build 2600...

Quick...What do you think of this deal??

Well, Im a gaming noob so I would like to try getting into PC gaming. I know more memory would help there as everything else is up to par for it. But at least the video and system memory aren't shared like most are. Its upgradable to 2GB memory. Maybe later. :)

YUP!!!!!!!!! 200 big whoppin MHz from what the branding on the chip said. LOL!!!! Plus, pretty common 200MHz for that board, pretty sure its the same Gateway brd, just says LSI, instead. But its exactly like my Gateway 2000 in the closet. He-He. My other parts machine, well one of many........O_o

How to save many images at once

On the internet? The only way to save an image from the internet is to Rclick it and select "Save As". I think the only way to save multiple items would to be to drag select them and then do Rclick but that would highlight everything, html and all. What site are you going to with 150 pics? I...

Avast! It works pretty good for me. AVG is good, too. But I understand that it has incompatibility issues with ZoneAlarm if you by chance use that. Just what I've heard. And stay away from Norton. Norton not only sucks, but you gotta pay for something that sucks. Just what I've heard.

Mines set to time.windows.com. I just tried it and it updated fine. But, never really paid a lot of attention to it, tho.

Very true, I concurr. In fact Ubuntu setup instructions suggest installing XP first and then Ubunt. I did just that and the Grub Boot Loader replaced my MBR as the default loader. But I believe DimZie isn't even concerned with Linux right now. If all he installs is different versions of Windows...

Heh, not too smart on their part!! Sure dont make me wanna go out and buy another OEM machine. I'll never buy another machine without some sort of disc(s). That's just dumb. I was too nieve when I bought my Pavilion but not no mo! :)

Can't watch video + play a game at the same time? Evga 6800 128?

Just curious. Will WMP play a movie at all, on its own? Oh, and first, are we talking DVD? Not sure if it pertains but what is your DPI set to? I found out that WMP will not play DVDs at anything higher than 96DPI, at least on mine. Cuz I use 1280x1024 but I dont wanna use my binoculars to see...

As far as I know you can dual boot with any file system. Shouldn't matter other than FAT file systems won't see the NTFS partitions. But you can still create the multi boot system. On my triple boot, I had WinME first, FAT32 on C:, then W2kPro, NTFS on D: and lastly, XP Home, NTFS on G: and all...

Yes. The license doesn't care what updates you have or dont have. The only concern is that an OEM version will only activate with an OEM key, which as you stated they are.

Cannot set 1st boot to CD rom

Did you buy this lappy new? If it has booted from CD before but won't now, how would it get changed if the BIOS is locked? Maybe you could get a hold of Dell and see if they know how to get into it. I've never had a computer that I couldn't get into the BIOS so Im afraid Im not of much help...
