Though it's hard to read at the moment it might help to put the games into groups eg FPS, RPG, RTS, Classic, 2D....
Just thought I'd try out the FarCry demo since so many benchmarks use it in tests. I was under the impression it used lots of shaders for water effects and other things and was as a result hard on graphics cards.
I can't see any nice water effects? Any ideas??

Just wandering if anyone else has a force feedback gamepad. Mine vibrates way too much i can't play need for speed most wanted if it's on! But i'd like to get the good out of the feature.
There are gain settings in the properties panel but they don't have any effect?! Anyone have the same...

I posted my benchmarks on the 6600gt thread. ~3250 stock and ~3600 OCed to 568/1040 (agp bus was oced to 70mhz too). Thats the kinda performance U can expect from a 6600. It'll run any new game at medium/high...
your assuming that the card will have 16 pipes
it's highly possible considering they will want a card significantly better than the 6800gs that it will have 20 or 24 pipes. The HSI shouldn't limit clock to 350 6600gt's clock at 500 with a bridge chip.
I dunno about ASUS but albatron make one that works the other way.

Is it definitley comming out in AGP form? I'm tempted to wait i've seen alot of reports emerging that the pipes were not all good. And as you say in worst case scenario it won't be a massive improvment if I only get 12pipes going. Better look for that thread and see what news there is
wouldn;t worry about the psu unless it's really weak. PPL have used the 6800GT's in shuttles with 250W PSU and they run fine
I might wait and see. I've thought about it and i'm not sure the performance increase from what I have will warrant the cost. IF they release a 7800 it will be bridge...
yeah i would agree they've thought about it. Everyone has thought about loads of suff they will never do, it's human nature if you see a movie where someone hangs off a building you think I wander if I could pull my self back onto the building or would I just loose grip and fall.

Not totally sure. If it's graphical then it will most likley be localised to a particular type of object or shader. Being fairly uniform in distortion.
Speculation: but when you overclock the core to the point of artifacting you esentially have reached the limit of a pipe and it's failing so...
I would advise against. I'm a medical student and I can tell you surgery is never "minor". I would only go under the knife if i absolutley had to.

Why don't they just. Get 4 really fast chips put them on the same board/double decker board add a huge cooling system and stuff it into a single PCI-E slot. With 64 pipelines it should be right and fast. Yes it'll be expensive but probably cheaper than 4 7800's

I'd be suprised if you can find a game that can't be maxed out! If i max out FEAR settings on my 6600gt (stock 500/900 agp) even it gets a 18fps average in the test. That combo is 3-4 times more powerful so it should get 50fps or more with ease. They get...
can i ask what memory chips are on the pci version? (Code on the top of them)
The agp uses K4J5532QF-GC20 which are rated at 500mhz (ddr3 so 500mhz*2=1ghz) but they clock it at 900. Just wandering if they are the same chips on the PCI-E
wouldn't worry about those A5 the chips have high operating temps. I just looked up the specs of samsung DDDR3 chips. They have a max safe operating temperature of 125deg! Silicone is quite tuf stuff.

I checked my fps it rises about 5 avg in FEAR, 6-7 in quake 4 but AOE III only shows 2 FPS. Seems to be highy game dependant.
I'm not sure the overclock is worth the gain but it all depends on how the card will last if it goes for 5 years clocked like that I don't mind but if it only lasted 1...

Oh yeah i forgot FEAR did that. Remember trying to set it up b4. The only other game i know of that does that is C&C Generals.
If you have AOE3 the main menu screen is a good indicator. I get about 21 with max settings, 32 if i set shaders down to high.
on the topic of overclocking one of these cards. Does it do the card any long term damage?
Have always been afraid of OCing my 6600GT specially because I think(personal speculation) it's clocked down to prevent the HSI bridge from melting. Plus it already runs at 72 deg under load.

Well it does quantify power to a degree but speeds within a game engine are much more useful.
