    939 Motherboard Recommendation

Hi I have a A8R-MVP which I've had enough of, and I've decided to upgrade it for Vista and so i can use all of my 4GB Ram as I can never get the ram working with the A8R-MVP. can anyone recommend a board please? I don't need 2 graphics card slots, but I do need something that will...

    Recommendation for 939 Mobo

I'm having problems with my ram and my X1900XT runs too hot, which is triggering my radiator fan (not good very noisy) and raising my whole case temp , but because I have to put the card in the bottom graphics slot I can't change the cooler and also get my water pump in the case. On the...

    Recommendation for 939 Mobo

Thanks ultralight. I'm thinking of getting the a8r32-mvp as I'm used to the layout of the a8r-mvp. I know I don't need the second graphics slot, but at least I'll be able to navigate the bios

    Recommendation for 939 Mobo

Hi My current spec is in my sig. I don't intend to run a second graphics card so i don't need crossfire (got 2 monitors and crossfire doesn't support 2). I need something stable with lots of overclocking potential. Aim to buy this weekend so need help fast please. thanks Everton

    ASUS A8R-MVP stable @325MHz HTT

What does the RD480 HT PLL Control option in the BIOS do? I've just bought a 2nd card and I'm wondering whether I should change this. Thanks in advance

    ASUS A8R-MVP stable @325MHz HTT

The VCore settings seem to have some kind of memory on this board. I find if I'm having problems starting with a overclock that was steady before, I just reduce it a bit, let the system 'learn' that it is safe, then go back to my original rate. I only have to do this if I've been moving my...

    ASUS A8R-MVP stable @325MHz HTT

I've just installed speedfan and I love it. It's great being able to micro-manage my fans as I now know which ones are effective and which ones aren't, and are just making additional noise. Quick question: What temp is the 3rd sensor reading on the A8R-MVP? It's saying minus -128C........

    Prime95 question

DO you run small and large at the same time, one on each core or seperately for 8-15 hours?

    Prime95 testing

one final question - when you run prime95 on a dual core what tests do you run on each core? small FTTs on each core, or blended on one and large FTT on the other, or something else?

    Prime95 testing

Thanks. I'm currently doing another Prime95 test which I'll leave running overnight (old habits die hard!) to see if my new settings are more 'stable'. I'll then run OCCT tomorrow evening. How long does the full test take btw?

    Prime95 testing

It could also fail at 60 hours or 1000 hours....when do you stop? That's my point.

    Prime95 testing

I've been testing my rig and it's only Prime95 stable for about 5-6 hours before crashing. I keep asking myself why is this a bad thing and why should I be aiming for 24 hours? I will never use my computer at the intensity level of prime95 for that long. Maybe, 8 hours occassionally if I had...

Overclockers DDR Ram Recommendation for A8R-MVP/4200+

Sorry sig was out of date - was before I discovered instability

Overclockers DDR Ram Recommendation for A8R-MVP/4200+

3-5% loss on ram performance or on total performance? The A8R-MVP has problems with 1T and I've virtually given up trying to get it to work. Hmm, maybe I'm not alone then. I'll wait to see what other people recommend before I decide to keep/sell the ram

Overclockers DDR Ram Recommendation for A8R-MVP/4200+

Hi I've just finished building my PC and I'm almost happy. I tried to save some cash on the RAM by buying some value Crucial ram and I've learnt the hard way as I have to run it at around 173Mhz to get it to work at HTT 260. The rest of my spec is good so I've decided to upgrade the ram as...

    ASUS A8R-MVP stable @325MHz HTT

Ok, I've given up on my Ram and I've put it up for sale on eBay - ends in 7 days so I have some time to plan my replacement. Any recommendations on what I should buy for this board? I need 2x1GB. I've had to back down my HTT to 260 as it was failing Prime95 but I had it running at 285...

    ASUS A8R-MVP stable @325MHz HTT

I might do the same although I'm going to wait and see what kind of speeds are made on other boards. I'm quite happy with my 2.66Ghz from my 4200+, although I want to have another crack at using the 183Mhz memory timer to see if I can get my memory up from 222 to around 240

I'm thinking of replacing my board - what do you think I should get? My spec is in my signature.

    ASUS A8R-MVP stable @325MHz HTT

Ok, I'm jealous. How on earth did you get to 2913??? What setts? xxx X Y.y??? I'm stuck at 2.66Mhz on a 4200+

    ASUS A8R-MVP stable @325MHz HTT

Finally got my ram working with 3-3-3-8 2T and 166 on the timings. (I'm sure I tried these I'm sure I tried these setts earlier but don't care it works!) I've managed to clock my 4200+ up to a nice stable 2.613Mhz (9.5x275). Is this a respectable overclock or should I push a bit harder? My...

    ASUS A8R-MVP stable @325MHz HTT

Ok, making some progress although having a mare with my ram. Stage I Mobo: After I turned off Cool n' Quiet I managed to squeeze a maxiumum 320MHz out of my mobo Stage II CPU: The best CPU speeds I could manage were 235x11/2.585, 260x10/2.6 and 275x9.5/2.613 using air cooling only. I...

    ASUS A8R-MVP stable @325MHz HTT

Hi Enlightened one I'm totally new to this - when you say 2.5-3-3-8 do you mean CAS/TRCD/TRP/TRAS? I tried these changes (2T and memclock 200) and it keeps rebooting once it gets to the windows logo screen. When I tried memclock 100 it got a bit further - just past the logo screen but then...

    ASUS A8R-MVP stable @325MHz HTT

Hi I'm a newbie to OC and this is my first attempt. I've just built a PC with the spec in my sig and I've tried to follow the steps in this Guide. However, when I try to find my max HTT/FSB in step 1 i can only get to 235. I've tried reducing the processor freq multiplier to x6/7...
