But wouldn't the CPU show signs of death? With no temp montoring I would assume the chips would burn up leaving some kind of a burn mark or smell. If it doesn't look dead it probably isn't.
45 minutes is not stable. 12+ hours is stable. Why don't you just lower your overclock till you can prime at stock volts for alteast 24 hours. 200mhz or so is not noticeable unless you bench all day. (Which I know you don't)
Congratulations but until you hit 450HTT+ you have no room to talk. It isn't that amzing considering any board with a mature bios can match or go above that. You also are only using 256mb sticks and are running crap loose timings. Still a good overclock though.
I would assume that Intel is waiting till they have decent yields before they launch Conroe. They have no rush to release it anyway. Those benchmark tell me that K8 is as good as dead.
I used an ECS RS480 for a couple of months and I was fairly surprised at how it handled 2d and 3d. Bf2 was even somewhat playable at ultra low.
Sounds like a driver issue or some odd setting is running amuck in Windows.
Ollandy you can turn off that snake option is the bios. I can remember...
I actually got higher temps as well after I took off the IHS. Problem is it was extremely hard to get a good mount with the 7000B. And the Venice core is so tiny.
The only benifit I got from taking off the IHS was I was able to hit 2.6ghz with only 1.45. Anything higher still isn't stable and...
Since there is no "centrino cpu" I am assuming you are talking about a Pentium M. Pentium M's have 478 pins but are mechanically and electrically incompatible with Desktop S478 boards. In order to run one in a desktop situation you can either buy a S479 board or buy an ASUS adapter that allows...
I can't comment on the LEDs as I don't use them for my computer. I ended up removing the air duct because it created a spot of dead air in my case because the cpu did not match up perfectly with my cpu. If you use a tall HSF you won't be able to use it either way.
