I continue to see comments and confusion on the ASUS A8N-E chipset fan so let me clear this up. Revision 2 boards with the good, smooth, quiet chipset fan have been shipping since quarter 4 of 2005. Anyone who has ordered this board this year definitely should have received the revision 2 board...
I've read this post many times, but still don't understand the original reason for going with a 6150 based board. Normally these boards are selected since they have integrated video, smaller motherboards, and general use for quiet, small case setups. If you are going to be adding video and a...
I see now. The driver for AMD is for the nForce4, ultra, and sli which is still at 6.70. this driver is for the AMD/Intel X16 chipset.
The original nForce4 sli is dual 8 bit. this is for the dual 16 bit sli.
Maybe this hasn't had any replies, because I for one don't really understand the question. Are you referring to a Gigabyte GA-K8N-SLI motherboard? You ask about 2 graphics cards with a comparable motherboard? I don't know what you mean. Yo uask about 4 video cards? SLI board will take 2 PCI...
So now that your system is running with the one drive, have you tried anything else with the SATA drives? Were you trying to run them in a RAID or not? Which SATA ports did you have them plugged in to?
As to the Nvidia drivers... I've been using v6.70 and they work great.
You reference Xp so I'm guessing yo uare using WinXP home or pro. What service pack?
Did you ever disable on board sound in the BIOS?
What power supply are you using? Does it have a 24 pin motherboard plug?
Do you have the 12v 4 pin cable plugged in?
Have you read this topic yet? http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview...atid=29&threadid=1762814&enterthread=y
And many questions...
Why these 2 boards?
What are you going to use it for?
Do you have hardware already in mind that you want to use?
etc. etc.
Well if you're positive the processor is good, there are a lot of socket A boards out there for next to nothing. http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductLi...ption=&srchInDesc=&minPrice=&maxPrice= for example.
Oh now I gotcha. Now that I'm looking at the diskette, it's interesting to note that these are the files from the Nvidia legacy folder. Hmm. I had to use these with my Win2k install to be able to format my 160gb drive. So it used the legacy drivers during the base install. It then used the...
Since you are using one hard drive, did you disable raid in the BIOS?
Are you loading the Nvidia disk drivers by pressing F6 at the beginning of the install?
How are you partitioning and formatting the drive?
You say XP2. Does that mean Windows XP svc pack 2?
I can speak from personal experience running World of Warcraft and Everquest 2gb makes a difference over 1gb. In World of Warcraft, there it is very noticeable in raids and cities. Also I run WoW in full screen windowed mode, so again 2gb made a big difference there. In EQ2 the difference is...
They are not necessary depending on your operating system and service pack level. WinXp with svc pack 2 will work without them for example. As to them working fine, well.. they will work, but remember you would be using the generic Microsoft drivers, not the optimized Nvidia drivers. My...
Sigh. Grooge please do your research. Start with the INF files found in the \nforcewin2kxp\6.70.... folders. NVRAID.SYS and associated files are used for
MCP04SSS="NVIDIA nForce4 Intel® Edition Serial ATA RAID Controller"
CK804SSS="NVIDIA nForce4 Serial ATA RAID Controller"...
Yes there are nvidia non-raid SATA drivers. The file used is NVATA.SYS. And depending on your operating system and service pack level, you do indeed need them. If for example you have WinXP svc pack 2, then you don't need them, but I do recommend you get ver 6.7 of Nvidia chipset drivers and...
I am using the A8N-E and it is working great. I am curious what you mean about waiting a week to get the BIOS flashed? Download it and unzip to a diskette. Then press ALT-F2 when booting and load it. My revision 2 board came with 1005, so I immediately upgraded to 1010 using the ALT-F2 method at...
Lots of threads already written about these boards. Maybe do some reading? Otherwise you might want to give some more details about why these 3 boards, what you are looking to do with it, and what parts else will be hooked to it.
If it's doing that, then it's not hardware. Most likely would have to go to task manager, and track down everything running. End everything that is not part of the operating system and see what happens. Could be a lot of things.
I am running Windows 2000 on an A8N-E. I installed all the current drivers and it is working fine. So get the 6.70 drivers from Nvidia and the ones from realtek. Also I would suggest upgrading to the most current BIOS.
Question: You are using a LAN card (ethernet NIC I would guess) or are you...
