I read the E6700 topped 3.9GHZ... does this mean the E6600 is faster than athe E6700 @ the same overclocked speeds? :S
I'm buying the E6700 soon but will change my mind if this is true... thoughts?
Hey thanks a lot.... this was helpful. About your first question, I initially plan to cool my CPU and later add cooling for the GPU as well. So to reiterate I need blocks, pump, radiator, tubing & clamps right? I'm going to check out all the parts at those links and will let you know if I...
I know c2d is 2 months away, but I plan to water cool it and I have no clue about what parts or fittings I'm going to need... I have thought about kits, but want to build a fairly high end system on my own (I like experimenting a lot, and I guess there's less fun setting up a kit :P)...
LOL I'm even more confused now... I'm clear that the FSP rails are 18A even though it says 15A. What I'm not sure about is whether 20A would be sufficient for running a nextgen graphics card. $175 is a lot of money for me so I want to make sure my investment is worth it and I don't have to buy...
Thanks n7/howard... however, wouldn't the lower amperage (15A) on the FX700's +12v rails be a bottleneck eventually? Assuming I get an X2 4800 + 3*250GB drives + 2 optical drives + x1900xtx + swiftech h20-220 kit, are you saying the FX700 will handle these components better than the Liberty...
Alright, I'm planning to upgrade my PSU but want to make sure I don't have to change it when I get a dx10 compatible graphics card (whenever G80 or R600 releases).
The 2 PSU's I have in mind: Enermax ELT620AWT & Fortron FX700-GLN
The major differences between them: Enermax has two +12v@22A...
felony, I ran into the same issue with an 80GB barracuda drive.... surprisingly, a windows repair worked. If you haven't already, you may want to try that.
Good topic... how do I know I'm running 1T or 2T? I have 4*512MB sticks in a Pentium rig - do Pentiums also have a problem running 4*512 @ 1T or is it just the AMD systems? Thanks!
I've got a 6800GT that I run at 405/1150 and play games like Quake 4, FEAR, COD2, HL2... I need a bit of help deciding between a 7900GTX and waiting for a nextgen DX10 compatible card, if nVidia launches one this year. The thought of a complete upgrade also crossed my mind after I saw what...
A little off-topic, but is it true that the 7900GTX cannot have HDR+AA enabled while the X1900XTX can do both simultaneously and that's the reason why it's slower than 7900GTX in most benchmarks?
Zalman hasn't had a chance to update their site yet so it doesn't say whether the VF700 or VF900 will be compatible with the 7900 series cards... does anyone have an idea?
Thanks!
Sorry to intervene but I have a question related to this topic... how different (in performance) is the 170 from the 270?
I looked up AMD and the only documented differences are:
1. 170 is socket 939; 270 is socket 940
2. 170 scalability is 1-way and for 270 it says up to 2-way
3...
Thanks for that elaborate reply Bolt - definitely helps... I take it 2 rails is more than adequate so I'll drop the idea bout Antec's NeoHE power supply.
Thanks everyone - I guess I'll go with Seasonic S12 600w.
One more question, how does 3*12v rails help - I know the Antec NeoHE has 3 rails but I don't understand if it helps at all.
I have a good question... should I go for the 100 or 200 series. Originally planned to get a 165 or 170 but now wondering whether the 265 makes more sense.
[bump]
Still need help on this... it's currently blowing air onto the graphics card, should I try reversing it so it sucks air away from the card? Problem is I have a soundcard right below this Antec VCool.
Appreciate a response.
I finally bought the Antec VCOOL but my GPU core temperature hasn't changed at all :( Am I doing something wrong?
My eVGA 6800GT idle at 60 and peaks at 95 when playing FEAR - scary!!
I know the 630 is based on Intel's 90nm chip and the 631 uses a 65nm chip. My question is would there be a significant performance improvement in the 631? Also, will there be a difference in power consumption and temperature levels between the 2 chips?
Thanks for any information you guys...
$18 shipped to the US or Canada but I'm currently in India and I don't trust the mail service here ;) Either way, I'm still interested if you're ready to ship here... let me know how much.
I have an ASUS P5GDC-deluxe which runs the same BIOS as necro's P5GD1 (sorry I didn't mention that earlier), so I wanted to make sure I do the right thing... I'll wait for necro to reply :)
@ necro, what exact setting did you change in BIOS because I'm having the same problem with my pentium 530 running at high temps and planned to buy an aftermarket heatsink. If this solution helped you, it might just help me as well.
Appreciate your time posting the instructions ;)
I've seen PC2-6400 (DDR2-800) and PC2-7200 (DDR2-900) on sale and wanted to understand:
1. whether there are mobos supporting these RAM frequencies
2. are those frequencies standard or OC'ed?
3. what the memory timings actually mean, because 5-5-5-15 seems really high but does it matter...
