The Nokia 635 is good phone. Windows runs smoothly with no problems and Nokia includes some nice apps. Also Microsoft will update Windows 8 phones to Windows 10 for free when 10 is available. Lot of the major apps are available with Windows phones.
I had the 928 and just recently traded it for an Icon. I like how it just works out of the box and syncs with my Microsoft account so any apps, games, or documents will sync on my new phone. The only downside so far is a few apps that worked on the 928 won't work on my Icon but only a very...
I remember in the 70's the claim was the globe was cooling and we were entering an extreme ice age. That Manhattan would be covered with a thick glacier of ice. I remember that Time's cover showing that.
My Asus H81 m/b only supports 3 phase so I am not sure how extreme one can go on o/c'ing. I decided to go with the I3-4150 since I was able to price match and I have a few to many background stuff running while I am watching tv on my computer. I am not sure if I want to risk my parts by o/c'ing...
Don't own the g3258 at this time. Debating whether to buy the g3258 or I3-4150. My m/b only has 4 power connectors rather than the 8 so I am not sure how stable overclocking would be.
Asus has a bios update that will support the AE Pentium but I would double check Asus' website to make sure those boards can be updated with that particular bios.
Here is an article about Asus allowing o/cing on non-z boards by releasing an update to the bios. Not many details how this will be accomplished. Time will only tell.

Asus with a bios update will allow overclocking on any board. Here is the article about it:

Interesting news for those who want to o/c that new Pentium.

Surface 2 rt should be enough for a 7 year old. It has Microsoft Office 2013 with Outlook preloaded. You can sync the Surface Rt with your home pc and remote sign in I believe. You can't load programs directly to it except for the apps in the Microsoft store. I have a Surface 2 RT and if...
The build is looking good but with cpu's as efficient as they are today you really don't need 16 gigs of ram. The only reason to get that much if your nephew is going to use Adobe photoshop or illustrator or do some high end video/audio editing. Windows 8 and 7 use memory much more efficiently...
1. Take the MSF (Motorcycle Safety Foundation) Course--This is the cheapest and safest way to find out if you really want to ride. Some people find out within the first 5-10 minutes of riding, they do not wish to pursue this at all.

http://pcpartpicker.com/part/gigabyte-video-card-gvr725oc1gi
This card is $84.99 at Amazon and with Amazon prime it has free 2 day shipping.
Gigabyte Radeon R7 250 1 Gb
This would be a much better deal than the card at TigerDirect.
Your power supply is the heart of your system and the last thing you want is for it to take out the rest of your system when it decides to hiccup. Don't cheap out on the PSU, get a well known reliable brand even if it costs $10-20 more.
Another place to check prices of computer parts at various online stores and microcenter is www.pcpartpicker.com
You can check for a graphic card in your price range to see what is selling where at what price.
Tom's Hardware Guide is a nice outline as a starting point. You can go to www.pcpartpicker.com to find the latest prices of various computer components and who has the lowest price. And there are reviews of people's builds. It will list some site's combo deals too.
If your friend is not...
Depending upon the chipset, there are couple of H81 motherboards for about $45-49 at Microcenter. I am sure they would be around the same price at Newegg. Depends upon what features are important to you. Do you want more than one pcie x1 slots or dgpu 2.0 or 3.0 or dual or tri?
I got the...
BIY or Pre-built comes down to knowledge factor, budget and willingness to troubleshoot if needed.
There are resources on the internet but there are some excellent books out there too. I always recommend Scott Mueller's book Upgrading and Repairing PC's. It is an excellent resource that...
That Brix is going to so limit you. If you wanted a basic HTPC or Office use set up then go for it. It is not needed anymore with today's processors and motherboards for mainstream folks to upgrade every year. In the past due to the big improvements there was a need to upgrade but now not so...
I would not cheap out on the psu no matter what. All it takes is a PSU to go a little out of whack and bam you have to replace stuff. Best spend the money now on a solid reliable psu so no worries about the whole system being fried.
+1 Do you live near a Microcenter? The cpu/mb combos are hard to beat.
With motherboards figure out what features are important to you.
For example: is overclocking, pcie x 16 3.0 vs pcie x 16 2.0, # of sata6, # of pcie x 1 slots vs # of pci x 1, size of motherboard: itx, matx, atx...
Microcenter has great combo deals. I live 73 miles away from one and in LA traffic not great. When I go I make sure that I know exactly what I want and buy only that otherwise I have to make a return trip. The traffic sucks but the store is great. All that electronics to peruse at one's leisure.
The mobo can run at 1600 but the cpu is limited to 1333. So the memory will run at 1333. The Pentium 3240 has the memory controller for 1600/1333 but costs more.
Bottlenecking the 7790 would be dependent upon the games and settings you play at but for everyday use, highly doubt it.
What features are important to you and price? Do you need pci or pci-e x 1 slots or ability to o/c or more sate ports or 3.0 usb header? Do you need a pci-e x 1 slot some distance from the pci-e x 3 due to your graphics card taking up two slots? Do you need an extra usb 3.0 header? What is...
With all this back and forth and back and forth, it is getting to the point where someone trying to find non-bias opinion and information, both pro and con, feels like saying "f***K it, I am going to buy what is within my budget and if it works for what I do 95% of the time, great.
It...
Boy, I am kind of reminded how one can exaggerate using statistics to back up one's viewpoint. I just want to know about Kaveri, is it an overall improvement over LLano or Trinity. Is Kaveri capable of handling today's OSes, applications and software that are on most computers? How much is...
If you are planning on using your system as a HTPC with some "light" gaming then an APU makes sense. Also if your dGPU craps out you have a back up GPU in the IGPU.
If you are planning to do more than "light" gaming, the Athlon II X4 760 makes much better sense since it allows more of your...
Wow, once again a thread about Kaveri ends up talking about everything but Kaveri. I find it interesting that whenever AMD comes up, the conversation strays to all matters then what the OP wanted to talk about. For instance is IGP actually a GP or is it some alien artifact left to bamboozle...
Wow, I thought this was about a Kaveri pre-launch and the speculations that abounded until AMD released the actual product. Users can actually run them on their home computers to see if expectations/speculations matched/exceeded/lessened by reality. Not nitpicking about memory and warranties...
I am not sure but there is also external drives using USB 3.0, flash drives, wifi adapters, and possibly UPS. I think as the technology advances USB 3.0 will be the new normal and the more USB 3.0 you have the more ready one will be. Again it is all about what one's budget is, what they plan...
As far as USB 3.0, I am seeing more products on the market use USB 3.0 like wifi adapters and flash drives. Gpu features change much more rapidly than cpu. It all boils down to what is your budget, usage scenario, and if on a tight budget where do you compromise. For most mainstream users what...
Why the heck would someone buy a $200 cpu and then buy a $50 motherboard that has limited functionality? I can understand buying a $200 motherboard and then buying a $70 cpu to cover you until you could afford that $250 cpu that can overclock. Whereas you can spend less than a $100 on a cpu...
