    6970 vs GTX 570 (Photoshop CS5 + 11.4)

    I think I'm probably going to stick with the GTX 570 SuperClocked. If only because I bought it for £284, and the price now seems to be £300 to £320. Based on the reviews it seems to perform nearly as well as the GTX 580, and I generally prefer pre-overclocked cards.

    I currently use Portrairture to smoothen skin with my photography work, so not sure I'd ever use Beauty Box. The video version does look good though, but again, I doubt I'd be doing much video editing for at least another 7-8 months by which time I'll probably buy a new card.

    Nvidia's drivers have been crap as of late. All the newest one's give me all manner of issues. namely in Photoshop CS4 where the app crashes the first time on boot up. And sometimes a second time about an hour in to work.

    Furmark is bull****!!

    Furmark isn't tough enough imo. I go through Furmark without any hitch or artifacting, but half an hour or more with Crysis on extreme settings can cause glitches or even a freeze/crash. Stop using WoW and using something substantial.

    The horizontal line application doesn't work too well with the OCZ Freeze stuff. It's far too thick, strong and gloopy to do the whole finger in cling film spread technique, and a little too cumbersome for the horizontal line technique (though you could probably get it fine with a bit of skill)...

    Well, I only bought mine last week. And it's running at 3.8ghz on a 1.28vcore, with a Zalman CNPS9900 with temps of around 37 idle and around 69-74 load (depending on how long Prime95 is left on).

    Well, I just installed some OCZ Freeze and wow, what a difference it made to the standard Zalman stuff! Idle dropped from 39/36/39/35 to 36/33/36/31. And load after a good 20 mins of Prime95 went from 75/73/74/72 to 64/61/63/59! That's with Hyper threading on, and with an OC of 3.6ghz at 1.25v...
