Did I just open a massive security vulnerability?

Getting stock thermal cmpnd off?

I just use alcohol, paper towel and apply a little pressure. It will usually peel off with a few wipes.

AMD Opteron 165 CCBWE 0550 UPMW overclocking

Damn dropped my opteron 165!!!

Wow, that sucks man, lol. I dropped mine last week when I was going to remove the IHS. Once it fell, i decided on not even bothering taking it off, because my luck wasn't looking so good. Luckly, I didn't bend anything. But my heart was pumping hard before I seen the screen post up.

Well, I am at 2.6 now. Prime95 failed on core 0, but I am going to run COD2 and see how it performs. Right now my idle temp is 31c, window is open though because I am smoking a cigg.

RUT ROH! Do not install any new stuff on the drive or anything because you will write over the old data. You need to try some kind of data recovery program. Google it, im sure there are some freeware programs that could work.

How big was your 1st hard drive...

1gb, CTX 133mhz computer. That's not counting my old Tandy computers with 16k memory. The big 5" floppy and tape drives.

How well will this play new & upcoming games?

I am coming closer to ordering my PC and I am still flip-flopping between setups. What would be better, x2 3800+/6800GS or a 3500+ Venice/7800GT. After seeing stuff on Oblivion and the new Unreal, I am nervous that the x2 3800 setup will not be able to perform as well on these games...

If I only plan on OC'in the processor between 200-400mhz, is it even worth getting the Opteron? Will the stock fan on the 3800+ be able to handle a 400mhz OC?

Will this computer hold its own for awhile?

How big of a difference does the 512k vs 1mb cache make on the 3200/3700? I will be using this for other things like maybe a little video editing/rendering, and multi-tasking.
