    New cooler installed: Noctua NH-U12F!

Indeed we do ;). Noctua is also releasing a NH-U12F Extreme (sometime soon, they've had it since June '06), with an extra 2 heatpipes (much like the Ultra 120 Extreme) which should compete quite nicely with the Ultra 120/Tuniq Tower (perhaps not the Ultra 120 Extreme, the NH-U12F is a few...

    8800GTS in secondary 16x PCI-E slot

Hmm, i remember reading a review on the ASUS P5N-E SLI (nForce 650i) where they ran 2 8800GTX's in SLI (both running 8x PCIe) and had a 0% performance loss (compared to 8800GTX SLI on the 680i). So in short (if this review is to be believed), no....you shouldn't see any performance loss using...

Core 2 Duo E4300 Benchmark - fresh and hot

Yep, unless i'm mistaken, both the E6300 and E6400 are Conroes with up to half the L2 cache failed. These new E4X00s are the 'real' Allendales, much cheaper for Intel to produce and thus (best of all) cheaper for us. Hopefully we'll see some good overclocking results (i'm also interested in...

Best air cooler for socket 775lga

The best air cooler, if there's such a thing, would have to be the Tuniq Tower 120; performance wise, i know of nothing better. There's also the Thermalright Ultra-120, Noctua NH-U12F, Scythe Ninja/Infinity/Mine, Zalman 9500/9700, Thermaltake Big Typhoon and Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro. Check...

What are good temps for a Core 2 Duo 2.4ghz ?

Try using either Intel Thermal Analysis Tool or Core Temp. They're the programs most people are (or at least should) be using. Then mention the temps you've seen with one of them (they should both give the same temperature, so it doesn't matter which one you use), people will be able to tell you...

    pixel pitch ?

It can't be 1280x1024, 19" and have a .264 pixel pitch at the same time; i'm guessing it's a misprint (that 6 is supposed to be a 9).

    GeForce 7900GS vs. X1950 Pro

If you're considering overclocking, i'd have to say the 7900GS is the better buy, being $50 cheaper. If you're not considering overclocking (or only light overclocking), however, the x1950Pro is the better buy (the 7900GS at stock isn't enough of an upgrade over a 7800GT to be worth it, really)...

    P5B with E6300@7x400 won't let me use Memory@667

So you're on a 400Mhz FSB, and you want to run your RAM at 333Mhz (667Mhz DDR)? Unless something has changed, such is impossible and undesirable. With a Core 2 Duo, you want memory running 1:1 with the FSB (or higher), but they cannot be run on lower dividers (like the 939 A64s). If your RAM...

    Is a 6800GT worth upgrading to a 7800GT?

Do you have to buy the video card from this specific place? I got my Palit 7900GS delivered (next day delivery) for $300AU, and that was before the small ($20-$40) price cut. They can be had for as low as $256AU, or $259AU for the Palit (same place i ordered from). If you can't (or would...

Power Supply - Dual Voltage vs Single Voltage!

What's the Silverstone ST50EF-Plus going for at Newegg these days? When it comes to finding out how much amperage a PSU has on the 12V rails, don't bother looking at the amperage on each rail; there's no magic formula for finding their combined output. Generally, your best bet is to click on...

    transporting PSU

Most Coolermaster PSUs are decent (some are rather good), but there's often better choices in the same price range. I can't say much more than that, as i haven't used a CM PSU myself. OCing is Overclocking, and the specs for a PSU depend on the system it's being used in; if you list the PC...

    viewsonic vx2035wm

A quick TFT Central search turned up "ViewSonic VX2035WM 5ms 20"WS TN Film". If that's anything to go by, not likely to be as good as the VX2025WM, but ought to be a fair bit cheaper.

    Last PSU thread

Nope, the ST50EF-Plus is the same as the Enhance, the ST50EF (non-plus) is a different PSU all together. That, and the Silverstone has sleeved cables (mostly), which is worth a little more to some.

    E4300 -> E6600. Suggestions & comments please.

If you're aiming for a nice, safe overclock, i'd personally just go with a decent after market cooler and push the chip up as far as it'd go on stock volts.

What Video Card Do You Reccomend?

If you're not overclocking, the X1950Pro is perfect. If you plan on overclocking, i'd recommend the 7900GS (if it's a bit cheaper than the x1950pro). Either would work fine in your motherboard.

    Firefox 2.0?

A spell checker similar to MS Word's is the biggest selling point to me, but i also like the "Undo close tab" thing; where if you close a tab you need, just right click on any of the tabs, and click "Undo close tab", it brings it right back (in the same spot it was originally, too).

please help with ram voltage prob

Someone correct me if i'm wrong...but stock vdimm on your board is most likely 1.8V (stock voltage for DDR2, if i'm not mistaken), so to get to 1.9V, you'll want +0.1V.

    Core 2 E6300 @ 3.5 with Gigabyte S3. How much higher ?

Correct me if i'm wrong, but the "$305 for good OC DDR2 800 RAM" are based on Micron D9 GKXs, in which case $305 + $183 = $488 = best bang for buck, especially if you get an overclock like Marks. Very impressive results btw mark... i've got a Gigabyte S3 and a E6400 here (just waiting on my...

    Silverstone ST50EF

I believe IcePick is right, the ST50EF is different internally to the ST50EF-Plus; jonnyGURU apparently spoke to someone at Silverstone who confirmed that the ST50EF is in fact based on an Etasis unit. In any case, Etasis is an excellent manufacturer, the ST50EF is bound to be an excellent PSU...

    DDR2 Value Ram.

Depends on what you're looking to do. For a stock Core 2 Duo system, you'll need 533Mhz DDR2 (266Mhz FSB 1:1 with RAM). If you're looking to overclock, you'll need RAM which runs at whatever FSB you're looking for, in which case more expensive memory is necessary (though a lot of value RAM will...

    Power Supply Recommendation

An excellent PSU, albeit expensive and most likely overkill. IMO, for a modular, quiet, efficient and high quality PSU at a good price ($129 @ Newegg), the Corsair HX 520W is hard to beat (it also is capable of putting out 40A or 480W on the 12V rail, which is more 550-600W PSU territory and...

Need 450+ Watts power Supply with 30A on 12V rail

Just a quick note to the OP, when manufacturers state 'you need 30A on the 12v rail', this can be 30A (or more) on a single rail, or 30A over a number of 12v rails (ie 12V1 = 18A, 12V2 = 18A, Max Combined on 12V = 32A, etc.). This confuses most people, because they see that they need at least...

    What happened to JonnyGuru????

Though what he said was (to some extent) flame bait, he was reacting to the fanboyism (that ought to be an actual word by now...) surrounding PC P&C. He could've been a little less blunt in his reply, but when you have people making blatant generalisations, it's hard to be nice. Anyway, i...

Help! New budget Conroe OC upgrade

Some PC2-6400 RAM will go to and beyond PC2-7200, so if you pick the right kit, you'll be fine. AFAIK most (if not all) C2D mobos don't support a divider less than 1:1 (i might be wrong, i have only read up on a few C2D motherboards), so not running ram 1:1 mightn't be an issue. Look for G.Skill...

    G.Skill ram question

The 2GBHZ (first link) uses Micron D9-GMH chips, which are some of the best currently available (they're quite popular over at XS). I'm not sure what any of the others use (it'd be great if either used the same IC's, but going from Australian prices, i'd guess otherwise (the HZs are some $50+AU...

Temps and impressions of Scythe Infinity on a E6700

AFAIK, the whole ninja vs infinity thing depends on the fan used. I think when everything is at stock, the ninja performs better, but the infinity surpasses it with a faster fan (i think, haven't done much research on the topic). Anyway, that whole warping motherboard thing is a little worrying...

Does my CPU bottleneck a 1900XTX?

My guess is it has something to do with the person running the games... For most games, your CPU is more than adequate. In some cases, a better CPU would give you better framerates, but a better CPU will not instanty make currently unplayable games suddenly playable, the problem lies...

    Quick Question

If the new motherboard can support the CPU (and any other components in the PC, ie RAM, PCIe video cards), then you can upgrade the motherboard. 7300GT or 7600GS?????

There's a quick review here, basically, between the 7300GT (DDR2), 7600GS or X1600PRO, the 7600GS comes out best, though the 7300GT DDR2 is close (and better in a few games). Out of the 7300GT DDR2 or the 7600GS, comes down to price IMO. The 7300GT DDR3 offers even better performance, but i'm...

help me pick a power supply

What sort of system needs powering? Quad SLI? High end Crossfire perhaps? If not, a good 400-500W will more than likely suffice. If you give us the specs of the system that the PSU will need to power, we can tell you for sure.

    7900GS owners

Yep, same stock clocks as the 7900gt. Can i just throw an extra question in.....what brands are you's using? I've heard great things about the XFX cards, but little of any others (and any other brands don't seem to overclock as well - something about not using the reference PCB).

    Good PSU?

AFAIK, the OEM for the Toughpower series is CWT (i know they make the <600W ones and the 750W, so i'll assume they make the rest). Either the Enermax or the Enhance are great choices, either way you can't go wrong, but like Elfear said, the Enhance might be more future proof (if there is such...
