iTunes 11 is out

Yeah, it sounds like they've really under-powered the Retina MBPs for what the screen actually needs. They need better GPUs so it doesn't get so worked up just trying to display applications and websites.

Q6600 @ 3.2ghz to Ivy bridge 3570k. Fps increase 4 games? Any other benefits?

This is at 1680x1050 fully maxed. No reinstalled OS, no reinstalled game or anything. Literally removing the Q6600 and accompanying motherboard and replacing them with a 3550 and respective motherboard. Only other part of the upgrade is I went from 4GB of DDR2 800 to 8GB of DDR3 1600, but the...

Mountain Lion is doodoo on 2GB RAM, what should I upgrade to?

I second the Samsung 830 + 8GB RAM upgrade. Can't go wrong there. Using G.Skill here with no issues.

iTunes 11 is out

I like the new UI, does seem snappier. A little rough on my machine at work but I think its a network issue or something because using it is fine once it loads, it's just the store that is lagging on my work machine. On my SSD at home it's certainly faster than v10, especially switching...

It really depends on the game, but I upgraded from a Q6600 SLACR running at 3.0ghz to a i5-3550 and it was a huge jump for Skyrim and Black Ops (1). My Black Ops fps nearly tripled. Skyrim I can max now without any slowdowns (with high-res texture pack installed). Games that rely less on CPU...

2500k and an SSD has been ground breaking for me...

I'm very excited about moving to Ivy Bridge from Core2Quad... the performance difference seems to be quite significant, which is awesome. C2Q was great for its time (and is still kickin', especially when overclocked), but it's just so many revisions/sockets behind now. It's time for an upgrade...

q6600 - still viable for gaming? or is it time to upgrade?

Starting to feel the bottleneck. In games that tend to be CPU-bound, it's noticeable. I play Black Ops a lot, and it's very CPU-bound. I upgraded from an ATI 4850 to an nVidia 560TI (for many reasons and other games too) and get about the same frame rate in Black Ops O_o. Running a q6600...

GTX 260 Core 216 SLI VS 4890 Crossfire

Yeah, Crossfire'd 4890's would likely be overkill. It may help if you buy games often, because it'll give you some headroom when new, more-demanding games come out. But 2x260's should last quite a while too. If you have the extra money, then I'd say the 4890's, but if you are really looking to...
