I just got the Dell SG2716DG to replace my Asus MG279Q and it's pretty impressive for a TN panel. Nearly the same colour quality after some tweaking and much better uniformity and motion handling.

Your first dedicated GPU?

3Dfx Voodoo 1 4MB. I remember slapping an 40mm fan on it to try and get over 57mhz stable. I loved the CRT click when 3D would kick in. Such good times, Forsaken, GLQuake, Incoming, going to 3dfiles.net to download whatever new demo had just come out.... I miss the 90s.

The texture option made a slight visual difference with minimal performance impact on my Fury X. The shadow option did have a considerable impact on framerate so I turned it off right away.

How Much of a Performance Increase from i7 3770k to i7 5820k

I went from a 2600k @ 4.5ghz to a 5930k @ 4.5ghz and I feel it was worth it. I game on a pair of 290x's and everything feels considerably smoother. I haven't really benched the 2600k since 2011 in anything other than some synthetic CPU tests (Cinebench, etc which obviously saw huge increases)...

OG i7 still relevant...and used?

A coworker of mine just got the upgrade itch after hearing me talk about my 5930k and dropped in a 5650 @ 4.2ghz to replace a 920 @ 4.0. He is very pleased, it's close to his girlfriend's 4790k @ stock in most multithreaded benches.

Yeah from what I've read it is compatible with 2011 via the 1366 mounting hardware and poking through the rubber gasket on the socket.

Getting surround sound from tv to stereo via toslink?

It's usually the case of the TV not being able to pass 5.1 back through optical from an HDMI source. Your best best is to get a cheap sound card with an optical output.

I locked myself out of my house and two factor authentication made it more difficult

My wife had locked us out more than once from our old place. Our new house has a keypad lock for the deadbolt on the front door. Handiest thing ever, never have to worry about who has keys, as long as the batteries don't die.

You don't even need to re-encode them. Rip the Blu-Ray or DVD into MKV with MakeMKV, retain the HD-Audio track, subtitles, and chapters. Video is untouched, menus are gone. Easiest way to rip and maintain 1:1 quality from source.

Horizontal lens shift would be nice for sure. AE8000 or 5030UB both have it. Between the two I'd have to say the AE8000 with the better input lag and the motorized lens memory is the better choice.
