    "Official" DFI nF4 Ultra-D / SLI-DR Thread

Recently swapped a 3500 Venice (had been running at 2.6ghz) out of my rig and replaced it with a 148 Opteron. When making the switch I entered the bios and returned all the CPU multi, Vcore, VID settings etc to default before removing the 3500. All of my memory options and timings were not...

    s754 asrock k8nf4g

Just wondering if anyone here has had any luck with one of these boards or any pointers. From what I understand setup is easy. OCing options in the bios may not be the best but considering what the board has to offer for the price one can't expect perfection. There are a few of these 6100s on...

ASRock 939Dual-SATA2 - Socket 939 with PCI-E and real AGP and Socket AM2 upgrade path

Well MrX yes indeed it does come "with locks". The ULI chipset is actually quite remarkable in my opinion. The bios is fairly simple and straight forward, no degree is needed to set memory timings etc. Aword of warning the accompanying manual leaves much to be desired but will get you up and...

    Motherboard trouble

Does it go in any better if you remove the backplate. When you say backplate are you referring to the plate on the back of the mobo that holds the HSF socket in place or the insert that houses your PS2 USB LAN outlets etc?

Is there a simple way to update bios?

Thats exactly the point I was trying to convey and the exact reason I use the tryed and true floppy method. Many folks are updateing there bios because of system instability. Thats exactly what makes flashing from within an unstable enviroment a bit of a crap shoot.

Cannot find a good 939 Board with AGP any suggestions?

Well mine is a 754 not 939 but if you want to follow a few threads on the 939 version of the board (I don't think there are a lot around as it was kinda late to market I'd suggest tryeing over in the forums at www.pcper.com there are some fairly insightful fellas over there that are useing the...

    Help me choose motherboard

I can defintely vouch for the DFI NF4 series. Rock solid stable, bios to kill for and OCs probably the best of the bunch. You gotta know your way aound a bios but once you get used to all the settings and a genearl idea what they are all for you're more than good to go.

ASRock 939Dual-SATA2 - Socket 939 with PCI-E and real AGP and Socket AM2 upgrade path

Michael D these are some of the most reasonably priced boards on the market at this time considering the options available. Many dual slot (AGP and PCI-E) boards offer good performance on either one or the other but not both. Mine performs well with either type of vid card with no performance...

    Gaming Board?

I've seen too many folks go that route only to be foiled when they go to swicth the machine on and find that its completely unstable or won't even post due to lack of power.

    EVGA NF4 SLI (NF41-AX) report

Opteron 146 at 260X10 with Voltges pretty much stock on everything 2X1gig OCZ DC Platinum 3200 5-2-3-2. I can't think of a single NF4 board that will accept any type of RAM without some incompatibity issues. I',m very satified at this end considering the board was basically free.

    evga nforce4 motherboard problem

You can download a manual and all the necessary drivers from EVGA. There are some simple explanations for error codes in the manual. If I'm not mistaken the CF is a bios check error. What kind of CPU and hardware are you running etc...

    what motherboard for overclocking??

DFI NF4 either non sli or sli. You have to be bios savy for emeory tweaking etc but when it comes to overclocking it's pretty hard to beat DFI. I wouldn't recomend an ATI crossfire chipset board at this point although they do seem to have potential.

Cheap new motherboard - boots 2500+ Barton at 600 MHz

I've seen this on several occasions. If you had a standard non mobile barton ou'd obviously be good to go but with the mobile there are certain boards that simply don't support mobiles no way no how. I tangled with a cheap Asrock that put me in the same boat. I ended up going out and getting a...

I love my ASRock ULi M1695 board.

I absolutely love mine at this point Opteron 148 at 270X11 with all voltages basically at default. I too have read of SATA drive issues in isloated instances but have to think that it has something to do with NCQ drives conflicting with other disk management software.

What's a good motherboard to go with an X2 3800?

Although DFI is know predominantly for OCing the boards are super stable and dependable at stock speeds as well. Go with a single core CPU and stick to the non SLI rig.

Is there a simple way to update bios?

I hate giveing anyone advice on flashing the bios of a motherboard unless I have hands on experience with the board. I have seen all sorts of folks render systems inoperable useing windows based flashing utilities. If you have the proper flash proggy and bin file then the tryed and true floppy...

    Gaming Board?

If it comes right down to the 150 then I'd be awful tempted to spend as much of that on a good power supply and the rest on a cheap case. One thing all new 68 and 7800 series Vid cards need is access to lots of juice. Scope out your mobo decide what you're gonna get and be sure the PS mates well...

    EVGA SLI Nforce4

There is a good explanation of how to do this i the downloadable manual from EVGA. The bios is actually quite comprehensive actually considering its cost. I picked mine up in the bundle deal EFGA 7800GT PCI-E and the EVGA NF4 NF41 SLI AX mobo for under 400$ Canadian just before christmas and...

    Best 939 Board With AGP

Asrock 939 DUAL Sata 2 has the best of both worlds. I have run the Asrock with both AGP and PCI-E cards and it does not suffer in either instance. The board is quite cheap and OCs like a dream.

Mobo with 4 stick DDR 1T timing?

Many oif the newer NF4 boards will simply default your memory to the best speed your on die mem controller can deal with stabily when useing 4 sticks. If your sticks are all pretty much identicle considering its quality you should have an equal chance on just about any motherboard. There are...

Cannot find a good 939 Board with AGP any suggestions?

I'd have to second the motion on the Asrock 939 Dual SATA2, It appears to be one of the only boards that runs AGP and PCI-E equally well. I have had GREAT success with this board and it OCs my 148 opteron like a dream.

Is there a simple way to update bios?

I still feel after many years that the tryed and true floppy method remeains the best. There ARE windows based utilities out there that work fairly well but what you're looking for is dependability. I notice you are running an MSI. I DO NOT recommend useing live update. If your motherboard is...

What memory for EVGA SLI board

Oakenfold is right there are some knowledgable folks over there and they are all pretty much dealing with the same board you're referring to. They do have a list of recommended sticks as well. What memory for EVGA SLI board

Well you aren't likely to get 2 gigs of RAM to run at 290 but 250 is defintely doable. I'm haveing luck with 2X1gig sticks of OCZ Platinum 3200 5-2-3-2 with good results.
