OK, I put in insulators, but the sound is still there...bah. I've resorted to just playing a vid in the background to eliminate the sound. Asus better have a solution for me.

I read that in the hardwareanalysis thread...but the problem is, I've tried depressing the coil with the rubber eraser on my pencil, without any minimization of the noise. In other words, I can't locate the source of the sound.

So I bought this motherboard to replace my old Soyo KT400, and it works just fine. My problem is that there's a high pitched noise coming from the motherboard or cpu. It seems constant when my computer is idle, but when I am running some applications, it seems to stutter. Now get this...

Thanks for the offer, but I'm not interested in another Soyo, plus I'd like to buy a new motherboard. In any case, it's not my vid card, ram, or dust, unfortunately. Apparently, this problem is one that many have encountered with this board.

This is such a great idea...propellerhead, did you remove the CPU fan as well? I've noticed that a high-pitched humming is unavoidable with CPU fans, particularly because the CPU fans are so close to the heatsink (directly on top). Removing it would drastically reduce sound, but the heat may...

Difference between Soyo Dragon Mobo (AMD)?

Are you talking about the Dragon Ultra PLATINUM? If so, it appears that the actual difference lies in the onboard audio. The regular has only 4 channel audio, where as the Plat has 5.1 in it.
