ipod (nano) freezes my pc

figured it out. there are supposedly only two "high powered" usb ports on my pc - the ones on the mobo. the other ports - 6 of them - are not "high powered" and nano/ipod won't work on them. just switched the nano to the right port and it connected instantly and is blazing fast. *whew*

update: if i first start iTunes, then connect the nano.....the pc doesn't freeze up but only itunes does.

Nero Burning Rom (DVD Selection)

I have the same problem. Nero will only work with the Sony DVD burner it came with. It doesn't recognize my new NEC DVD burner. Will upgrading Nero to 7.x fix the problem or do I need to uninstall the program and get some other generic flavor of it?

Case suggestions needed... help!!

has anyone returned a computer case? i ordered the Coolermaster Centurion and I'm not happy with the fit/finish. I want to exchange it for a better one. Will ZZF entertain my request for an exchange?

any help? I just measured the noise level 6 inches from teh computer case with a sound level meter. I'm registering 50-51 decibels. does that sound normal?

wow thanks mechBgon. no i haven't installed the nvidia drivers yet. i'm starting to do all that now. meanwhile i did throw an eth card on a pci slot and i'm now connected to the internet. should i update the mobo bios also?

lol i can't believe my mobo doesn't have an oboard ethernet port. I saw an rj-45 port and assumed it's ethernet. After installing XP, it shows up as a 1394 Network Connection. I still tried for 20 mins to make it work with my router. lol too funny...thankfully I have an ethernet PCI card that...

So I'm putting together a computer for the first time and just wanted to get some tips. Would it be better to clone my existing HD onto the new one using Ghost, or should I format the new HD and then reinstall all my programs and data files? The latter will be a pain in the butt but I'll do it...

why does ZZF suck so much?

Question Regarding Wireless Setup and Network

Nope, no problem. Vonage comes over broadband - cable/DSL and has nothing to do with wireless. Yes, the Linksys WAP router will be on 2.4 ghz freq and if you could also have wireless phones in the same frequency but in my experience, that has never been a problem. Newer wireless phones are 5.8...

why does ZZF suck so much?

in my limited experience from these vendors, i found that they're both pretty much at par with pricing. newegg has lower prices on some stuff, zzf is lower on some others, a few bucks here and there. what made me order from zzf was that since i'm in jersey, newegg was charging me $80-odd in tax...

Should I buy an SLI motherboard or not?
