I finally found a rehost of that 2001 Bose article.

So, if Bose sucks bad, what would be a good 5.1 or 7.1 speaker system? Or brand? Budget or money doesn't matter. I have some old Bose and some old Cambridge Soundworks speakers right now, but would love to know what is considered a good speaker brand or system. Thanks.

Receiver recommendation please

Thanks guys. Right now I'm looking at the Denon avr-s710w for $300. One question, will these units pass sound through when I just want to watch news? I don't really want to have them on all the time to watch TV. I only need them on to watch movies, sports, and some TV shows.

Looking for a 42" 1080p HDTV

I'm looking for an HDTV 1080p 42" for hopefully around $400. Does anyone have a suggestion? I see a lot of HDTV's for sale before the start of the NFL season. I was hoping to find a good deal on one. Does this animal exist? Any ideas? Thanks

Would an external USB HD be able to do what you want? Plug that into the USB port on the TV.

Which BD player for HTPC?

I'd like to add a Blu-ray player to my HTPC rig. I have a nice Samsung 3D HDTV and I'd like to use the player to burn BD disks and play 3D BD on my HDTV. So does anyone have a suggestion as to which player would be good? I see this Asus on Newegg, but not sure about it...

Radeon x800gto or what?

Which card is faster/better. An x800 Pro, or an x800GTO? I bought a card that was advertized as an x800GTO, but my machine and Everest identify it as an x800 PRO. It has a sticker on it that says x800GTO.

The machine won't boot with the card anymore. It just sits there during POST. Swapped in an old card and it boots. I'm running Win 7 now, with an Asus socket 939 Athlon64,2 gigs memory. Thanks for the input, I think I'll just get another x800GTO for $42 with $12 shipping. It worked fine...

I just got this Asus P5N-E SLI board, I also picked up the S/PDIF bracket with it. I can't get the S/PDIF to enable. I've tried two different mainboard driver sets, and two different Realtek Audio drivers. No matter what I do the S/PDIF doesn't work. I can get sound from it, but it really isn't...

Has anyone had a problem burning to a CD? Nero keeps telling me "image block size does not correspond to image length. The block size may be wrong". I've tried correcting it, but it won't burn. I've also used Alcohol and redownloaded. Is it me or has MS messed me up? ZZ
