Do you guys think a 7900GTX for $140 is a good deal?
i really only plan on using it for the Half life 2 games bf2 and C&C3
my current card is the 6800GS
I wanted to upgrade my 6800GS to the 8800GTS. I wanted to know how much my amd +3700 @ 2.5 GHz would limit it by.
(i suppose 2GB of ram doesn't factor into the equation)
probly it just got over the heat limit, i mean its going into summer and hotter inside and just fried.
Since your getting a memory error, its probly the MEMORY swap out other ram and see it that works
try a different psu, thats the onlything i can think of.
My psu by powork (never heard of them) makes a strange buzzing noise like you where discribing but its worked since ive got it 4 months ago so i dont think i need to replace it.
its funny how they dont tell you the latency of the ram they give you
funny they dont tell you the manufacturer
funny they can charge you an extra $200 for windows
funny that they rip you of on the cost of hardware about $400
funny how altogeather they rip you off $600
with $1700...
PLZ dont buy from dell, they over charge you
Now the best idea would be to build it yourself, but if you cant/dont want to thats fine and you should compare your Dell system to Cyberpowerpc.com first
Edit : i will post what i think to be same (or better) for less price soon!
well since the 19' lcd is not taking power from the psu, u dont count that. the P4 takes 150 watts and the GPU takes 225 (both at full load) and dvd takes 20 watts so you should upgrade your PSU and 500W looks good i havent heard of that company before but dont know many PSU manufacturers
That is the chip set heatsink and yes you should be worried and put the heatsink backon the chipset with thermal gause before any (more) damage is causeed.
You should put that as your first priority and unless you NEED to us your comp u should leave it off untill repaired.
Also, plz dont get a sony vaio. They are over priced AND use bad hardware, i have seen them before my friend spent $1000 on one that was worth no more then $650.
I would build the system for you but you proly dont trust me so get your comp from cyberpowerpc.com they are a good company
Please, what ever you do do NOT get the 7900GTX 512, it would be the worst (Performance to Money) upgrade i have ever heard of.
I dont know opterons that much but if its a low end cpu that would be worth upgrading because 2GB is overkill for everything on the market (untill vista and dx10...
get the 1GB stick, its only 10$ more then the 2 512 ones and when 4 sticks of memory is in an amd board it taxes the memory contorler causing a loss in preformace compared to 2gbs in 2 sticks
Also then it is easyer to upgrade to 3 or 4 GB when vista takes over and sucks up all the ram that...
dont buy 2 80 gb, thats a waste of money if u want 160gb just get a 160 gb hd for about $70
ur better off with 1 hdd.
i was sayin earlyer just to get 1GB of ram, and 7200RPM hdd, the 10000 is just pointless unless money is not an object.
or just look at THIS link cause its from anandtech and prove tomshardware is an good source aswell as proving you wrong finishing witht eh 1mb makes a difference http://www.anandtech.com/showdoc.aspx?i=2747&p=3 just remember this, everything has to go through the cache before it is used so twice...
a) tomshardware is a GOOD site for decisions (or where the hell do u pull your facts from that its bad)
b) i did say that the jump from 3000+ to 3700+ was different thats why i said the 3700+ is BETTER then the 3800+ because of less ghz but the 1mb vs 512kb
so "yah" u should spend the little...
first i dont know what "not that great" stands for but if its less then 80fps he should virus/spyware scan or just reformat windows cause windows preformace does down half of what it used to by about 6-12 months (like a half-life)
if u have less then 1gb ram get more ram, that way once its loaded in memory the hd doesnt matter if u have more then 1gb of ram get teh cheaper one, it saves u money. but if u want the stuff to be loaded into memory 1 sec faster and money is not a question get the fast hdd.
