I finally fixed my S3 resume problem using my USB devices. I couldn't get the computer to some out of S3 using my infared receiver, which was kind of a pain.
By inserting the registry key...
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\usb
"USBBIOSx"=DWORD:00000000

there could be one of three problems: the computer isn't putting out the proper signal, the speakers aren't properly connected, or the receiver isn't setup to decode 6 channel audio.
are you using Windows MCE with NVidia Purevideo? there is a bug in the current Purevideo...
??? My USB wake *does not* work from S3 using either bluetooth keyboard, mouse, or from IR remote, which is a major pain. I've poked around XP to try and find the appropriate settings you reference to see if mine are unchecked, but haven't been able to... any ideas where to look?

You can install the NVvidia RAID drivers after you install Windows XP and migrate over to a RAID setup... you need at least two hard drives of course... (I did this so I wouldn't have to go through the hassle of slipstreaming my Windows CD's, as I don't have a floppy drive).

Both ohio68 and I are both using Western Digital WD2500KS (SATA II). I've had no issues with the hard drives.
If you're planning on using the NVIDIA drivers (which you need for RAID) and having S3 standby, be sure to read Ohio's guide earlier in the forum on how to properly setup...

I have the setup identical to yours. Finally got it to come into and out of standby... if I wait long enough the system will go ahead and do it, but the lag can be up to 5 minutes after the command to standby was issued. I have no further high process use issues coming out of...

I went into my Device Manager on the HTPC to disable the extra SATA controller as you outlined. Tried going into standby... the computer won't do it! This is odd as I haven't changed any system settings since last testing standby... in fact the only thing I've done with the...

It's been along time since my college electronics lab, but here goes...
If you don't care whether your moboard bursting into flames, then the fuse isn't necessary. Otherwise, put it into the +5V power line (coming from JUSB1/2 VCC in this case). I recommend picking up an...

Wow, thanks for the good info. As my ASUS moboard will drive the bracket without a +5V line, it makes sense that its using a TTL signal. Interesting that the bracket will still drive the coax out regardless...
Looks like you used a specialized logic chip to build this... was it...
Well... the ASUS board comes with a 4 pin connector using 3 leads, the connector positions are: +5V, key (NC), SPDIF, and ground. Using a safety pin I popped the leads out of the 4 pin connector, and gave each lead its own one pin connector. I also put a 250 milliamp fuse in the +5V wire to...

It'd be interesting to find out what the pin configuration is on that board... considering it has L/R audio out it's probably different from the K8NGM2.

I tried to modify an ASUS bracket with combined coax/optical out and could only get the coax working when connected to the K8NGM2, even when I supplied it a +5V signal it asks for. Oddly enough, in the process of troubleshooting I discovered the optical out works on my ASUS board...

Thx for the reply... I'm running a RAID setup as well and, after one hard drive failure too many, am not willing to give it up... looks like I'm out of luck until we get a BIOS or NVidia driver update...

Thanks for putting together this great thread. You've helped me immensely in selecting and installing my system components for a HTPC. Using the technique you outlined, I was able to get 2500 Mhz prime stable on a 3800+ X2 core with stock cooling and voltage. I did have trouble...
