Help! Black border around screen when using HDMI

I had the same problem when I switched to using HDMI. As fluffedup said check the overscan slider in CCC; once you remove the black border the blurriness will go away as well.

    Data Recovery

They have their own clean room and stuff? Personal experience with using them? Sorry for so many questions, the data is really important want to make sure I get the best chance possible of recovering it.

    Data Recovery

Anyone know of any good data recovery services? HD died, motor just whirs away so it will most likely require physical fixing. Pricing would also be nice to know as well. Thanks! Forgot to mention that it's an old 120GB Maxtor IDE (ATA/133) drive.

Intel's X86 license with AMD questioned

If AMD was baiting Intel, and everything works out for them Intel will be in big trouble because they will be the ones in breach of contract and will lose access to all of AMD's patents.

Intel's X86 license with AMD questioned

It seems like Intel's main argument for a breach of contract is due to GF not counting as a subsidiary of AMD. However, based on the definition of a subsidiary in the cross-licensing agreement, GF does clearly seem to fall into the category of a subsidiary. AMD has a 50% voting right and has...

Why no love for the 750a?

Lack of ACC is probably a major factor. Never the less you do see a few people posting about buying NForce boards. I hear they do quite well with Phenom II since they no longer rely on ACC for OCs.

The GT 212 and the next best single card solution

Game requirements and market conditions don't seem to be forcing video card manufacturers to come out with a new design just yet. I think AMD and Nvidia are pretty content in letting the R700 and GT200 series make them some extra cash.

At what point is an Athlon X2 just too old?

Grab a Radeon 4830. They're < $100 now and would be a cheap step up from your 3850. If you're running 3Ghz+ on a X2 then you should be fine for a bit longer.

Whats the point of the intel atom/netbooks?

The ASUS 1000HE comes with a 6-cell battery which should solve most battery lifetime problems. It also seems like netbooks are moving away from the 8.9" screen to 10" screens, either that or the price drop on the smaller netbooks is finally happening. Regardless, you were already downclocking...

AMD Sets Target Date for New Fab Construction.

With AMD's spinoff of their fabs, they probably won't be footing the bill for most of the costs. If I recall too, if they don't build soon they will lose out on the subsidies.

    HIS 4850 blue-screening Vista

Ignoring what other people are saying, have you tried to update the motherboard bios using a flash drive yet?

    HIS 4850 blue-screening Vista

Well if you didn't RMA yet, I suggest trying to flash the motherboard using a thumb drive.

    HIS 4850 blue-screening Vista

Is everything else stock on your system? I can't believe no one bothered to ask him what processor, RAM, peripherals, etc. that he was also using. The problem could have been the result of the combination of components. In any case the Corsair 450VX is a very good PSU, so I'm thinking it's...

    Dedicated GPU Physx benchmark thread.

I think a crucial benchmark that everyone overlooks is what are the FPS in a non-PhysX version of these maps. So you get less fancy effects, but what is important is what are you giving up; is it 20, 50, or 100 FPS that you're giving up for losing shader processing power to some falling stones...

    FlexATX Motherboard Upgrade for Shuttle?

Lol yeah you're right. Of course mATX is four, I just couldn't picture four in my head for some reason. However I don't think I've ever seen a Flex with 3 have you?

    FlexATX Motherboard Upgrade for Shuttle?

Micro ATX has three expansion slots, Flex ATX has two, and Mini ITX has only one. Before during the P4, K7 stage I remember seeing a couple non-Shuttle Flex ATX boards, but I'm pretty sure no one else really makes them now. When I was looking into Shuttles a while back I think I emailed...

    Intel's legal woes...

The chances of AMD winning their lawsuit are very high. There is no question that Intel used illegal rebates and payments to stifle competition from AMD. The real concern is whether or not AMD will survive until the lawsuit is resolved and how much longer they can live after they receive a big...

AMD's MCM Vs Intel's MCM on Nehalem...

How can MCM with AMD be difficult at all? To me I think about it like this, if AMD can make a dual socket system they can easily do MCM. All they have to do is create the HT links to connect the two die on a single package. Possibly that could be a difficult task but with Intel going the same...

    *EDIT -- PROBLEMS** Corsair HX620 for $80 AR + tax + ship

The $20 and $30 rebates both ask for the original UPC. Assuming you use the larger $30 MIR the final price would actually be $100, which is still cheaper than most places.

Everex TC2502 gPC, $200 WalMart PC

Yeah 2 PCI slots so it's definitely not a mini itx board. It really looks to be the same size as a DTX board though, so if you wanted to when DTX cases start coming out you may be able to transplant it into a DTX case. :P

    More leaked Phenom benchmarks

I seriously doubt that Phenom is going to magically start matching the performance of Penryn. However, at the same time you have to look at certain settings that they're benching the Phenom X4 at. We'll have to wait and see how faster ram DDR2-1066 or lower latency RAM has an effect on K10...

Struggling...Budget Build - Intel or AMD?

Is your motherboard Socket 939? If so getting a cheap X2 dual core would probably be a pretty big boost without forcing you to change anything else in your system. EDIT: NM I googled the motherboard and it seems to be Socket 754. You would probably have to do something similar to the OP and...

random reboots after upgrading to x2 4200+ from a64 3400+

Memtest is not a guarentee that everything is fine. I've had situations where memtest doesn't fail for like 10+ hours and then I assume everything is fine and the comp still crashes sometimes. I see memtest more as a way to make sure the sticks themselves aren't bad. :P

random reboots after upgrading to x2 4200+ from a64 3400+

Your temps are off probably due to bad mounting of the heatsink or a bad thermal paste application. I would do two things, redo the heatsink + thermal paste thing and try running on a single stick of ram. The X2 has a different/updated memory controller compared to your 3400+ and that could be...

    AMD Confirms Three Core Phenom

Unless your yields are 100% then there always is a financial advantage to selling defective parts that can be transformed into good working products. As people have mentioned, DC processors have been sold as single core, GPU's with defective pipelines are regularly sold as lower end products...

Tuniq 120 Rattling Noise/bent heat pipes?

My Tuniq 120 rattles too, but only if I run my fan at full speed. It could be the vibrations from a fast fan causes the fan holder to jiggle and bang against the heatsink fins. Shrugs, I think I tried to tighten my screws too but I don't think that helped much.

    Serious Cooing Troubles

If you have a fan controller then try taking your rear fan off the fan controller and see if it still has problems. If you've already done it then you can try to remove the rubber plugs with a small flathead screwdriver (I've done it before without messing the rubber plugs too much). The other...

Case Proven: People that think X2 > Core2 clock for clock

You have to realize that people that buy the top of the line chips are usually not doing it to overclock. They are your average joe user that just wants the best for their money. Yes the X2 5000+ is not as fast as an equally priced E6600, but its reasonably close in many benchmarks. 10% or even...

Response from FS to HoCP "real world" tests.

I think Maethor put it the best. X2, AM2, fast/overclocked Pentium D will all be fine for the gaming crowd now as long as you aren't running SLI. However, I do notice now that in the HardOCP benchmarks, the apples to apples comparison runs all the benchmarks at 1280x1024 (17" 19" LCDs or...

Response from FS to HoCP "real world" tests.

Well I think what Kyle was trying to get at for his review is, if you are going to get a Core 2 Duo, are you going to get a Crossfire X1900XTX / SLI 7900GTX setup or a single high end card like the X1900XTX / 7900GTX? I think the answer to that is "probably not" for a lot of the people buying...

Response from FS to HoCP "real world" tests.

I think HardOCP provided a different conclusion than most, and are drawing unnecessary flack for it. Conroe is extremely powerful (and quite ahead of its competition), and really much more powerful than the performance any single graphics card can provide. You need at least SLI to really make...

    Reason for Conroe's Performance Boost?

To me Conroe is merely a tweaked Pentium M core. The amount of increases that they get must be incremental from a Pentium M baseline at least, and Pentium M clock for clock is almost comparable against the A64. Shared cache, dual core, 1 more execution unit, macro-op fusion, and single cycle...
  33. I

    Reason for Conroe's Performance Boost?

So curiously, has anyone thought of the reasons as to why Conroe is THAT much faster over Dothan/Yonah and similarly Rev. E of the A64? My thoughts are that 4MB of L2 while shared between both cores does allow single threaded applications (i.e. games) to take advantage of the large cache...
