Do you mean VMWare? There is some 3d acceleration in Workstation 6.5 on Windows, however you are going to need to be more specific here. what exactly do you want? A different product may be a better choice for you.

HDMI output not working

It gets weirder. It looks like the HDMI is not behaving at all, but if I plug in VGA to my monitor, and HDMI to the TV, then the monitor shows the boot sequence, up until windows loads, at which point I lose VGA as well (only when HDMI is plugged in). At this rate, Im going to replace the hardware..

Nothing in BIOS about HDMI, other than a sound option. HDMI is going through the receiver, but will try direct to TV, see if that helps.

I could have made that clearer, the video is all onboard, I am not using a dedicated graphics card. Well, just double checked BIOS, nothing in there that would indicate HDMI on/ off. So, I ask again, anyone got an idea?

what is the contents of your resolv.conf? Windows runs its own type of name service, which doesnt rely on DNS, which by default, *nix boxes do not run. IT can be enabled in resolv.conf normally, though I do not remember exactly how. Will see if I can find it, or someone else will probably beat...

auto build md device

That should be fine really. I did a "create" to make mine, and haven't touched it since. I don't have an mdadm.conf or anything, it just happens like magic. if mdadm is set to start on boot, then it will automatically scan for devices that can be in an array or something...

Sorry, got it solved. Re-transferred the files, and for some reason it works this time. Well, I don't know what happened, or why it now works, but at this point, I'm willing to just accept that it works.

Sorry. Ok, SELinux is disabled (internal facing web server, SELinux is just annoying in this case). OS in question is Fedora 9. Files are owned by user apache, group doesnt matter. had done a chmod -R 755 * on the directory, that didnt help. tried you commands, without the chcon, and still no...

There is TONNES of info about apache. Firstly, on Ubuntu, you normally put stuff into /var/www/ (I think that's the default location, I don't do Ubuntu). Anyway, that's configurable (along with everything else) in your httpd.conf, which would be located in /etc/apache2. But I think Ubuntu...

can you give an example of what causes this? bash is generally pretty stable, so for you to have found a whole new case which causes problems is unlikely, though I guess it is possible.

UPS doesn't help if motherboard or PSU fails... It is best to combine UPS with BBU. The BBU can keep the write cache intact for up to 72 hours. Also, when transferring several terabytes from multiple clients, any extra speed is greatly appreciated.... will be using 4x gigabit interfaces...

Yeah, thats the trouble, Centos/ RH 5.2 are 2.6.18-92.... So close, yet so far. Tried using the driver disk in a CentOS 5.2 VM, but it didn't seem to work.

No, you can specify 3 drives, but that one of them is missing. I think (but not sure, needs testing) that you can set -n 3 (3 devices), but specify 2 of them, and it will assume the last one is missing. you may have to --force it.. I am going to try this in a VM, see what I find. going to...

What do you guys think of G15?

I love my old G15, but the back light on the LCD doesn't work anymore. Don't want to replace it though, coz I don't like the new ones orange back light, or fixed angle LCD. Otherwise agree with above comments, it is very big.

Or, this may be overkill/ too difficult, but running a proxy (like squid), and requiring all computers that want internet to run an ident daemon, which you could then setup a rule to not allow internet to certain users. But that might be a crazy solution where the above ones might be better/...

Power to SATA HDD and DVD drive (currently building)

SATA power connectors only fit one way, and go on pretty easy, so if it isn't working, flip it around and try again. If both connectors on one cable will reach, then use them, otherwise use one from each cable. Doesn't matter, but I always try and use the minimum amount of cables

Oops, missed that its apache. Yeah, the standard CentOS apache will show up as httpd definitely under chkconfig --list, so try a chkconfig httpd on.
