Intel Core 2 Extreme X6800 in stock at newegg

why do people always whine about prices from companies? They charge what they can get. Simple as that, all companies for profit do that. Just the way the world works, although, almost 1.4k is pretty steep for a proc, but we all remember the days when a new comp would run about 6-10k. :)

Confused over Sempron overclock

download the newest bios and flash your mb. See if that helps with getting your pci lock in place. Then try running a ram divider and pushing the HTT farther. Lower the HT multiplier to 3x. Do this only after you have stress tested, and are sure the system is stable.

i have oc'd on both of them, and i found them to be very equivelent. I would go with the asus, just because they have some cool bios auto resets for when your computer wont post.

Confused over Sempron overclock

it is as easy as raising the fsb. and use CPU-Z to see what your actual fsb and what your ram is running at. Try looking for a mod'd bios that will allow you to raise your htt higher then that.

Can CPU cause stuttering?

how hard is it to just unistall the drivers for your current card, take it out, reinstall the drivers and enable the onboard sound? It will take maybe 10 min tops. Try it out, see if it works, then if it doesnt, you can then move on from this topic.

The error code you were getting is irq_not_less_or_equal_to right? or something to that effect? Because i did recieve that same kind of code on one of my rigs, and by swapping the cd-rom it stopped doing it. Just a idea, otherwise, some of your settings must be wrong or hardware doesnt like...

Question about OC

Lower your divider to 100mhz, lower your cpu multi down to like 9, then I would lower your HT mutliplier down to 3, or also known as 600mhz. On your board, does it have a southbridge multiplier as well? if it does lower that to 600mhz as well. then keep pushing your htt up as far as you can...

I would read as many different guides as you can, some are better then others. Keep in mind, that each proc/mobo/ram/psu will all work differently as the combo's are always different, especially since each proc will have a diff limit. I have seen many 3200's reach 2400mhz-2600mhz on air. Make...

computers are addicting, especially trying to get one that isnt playing well with the other computers to play nice. :) And what will be even better, is right after you get your rig up and running at 100%, we all know that you will then go for that 105% and be in the same boat ;)

I beleive that your problem might be your cd-rom, as to the crashing. What kind of cd/dvd drives are you using? try disconnecting both of them and see if you still bsod. Also, did you go into your BIOS and check your HT multiplier? Set it to 3 to take it out of the equation. Also what...

try removing the side of your case, to see if that helps. If it does, you probably have a pocket of warm air going on. What kind of power supply are you running? Does sound like your video card might be over heating, you should pull up your video temp and see what it is at after 1 hour of css.

asrock dual sata2 bios advice!

cool, i think i am on 1.8, thanks guys! I guess i just have to wait till ASROCK makes a bios that is stable past the htt mark of 274, cause right now i am at 9x274 on my venice 3000. Only gets me up to 2466.

I'm trying to lower RAM timings

just make sure that you can stay at a 1t command rate. I beleive that it is hard to keep the 1t command rate stable at anything more then 2 sticks.

Alright OC pros, let's get this thing screaming

I have that same board, but with the stuff in my sig. I raised the nf4 voltage to 1.65, and set my ram to 2-3-2-7-11 at 2.85 volts, cpu voltage at 1.4, and using the 133 mem divider for exactly 200mhz on the ram. Have you tried clearing the CMOS and then going in and setting everything up...

How to tell if a CPU/Video card is damaged

It could be damaged. Could also be that your processor degraded over time, or due to the oc. Doesnt look like you are pushing anything to its limits. Have you tried reformatting your hard drive? How are your installations setup? Is everything on the same hd? If you lowered your voltage...

Opty 165 @3g@1.42v, but temp is high.

What case are you using? Are you running any intake and exhaust fans? Air flow is going to be key. What tempurature is your ambient at? What is the temp in your room? If you are that hot, i would guess that either you live in a desert, have very cold blood, or need to better your airflow...

Best Motherboard for Opteron at boot?

I have a msi neo plat4 sli and it booted with a opteron 148 just fine. then i dl'd the new bios using the windows bios flash utility and everything is good to go, with a perfectly stable oc thats in my sig.

sounds like you need to loosen some of your ram timings. Is your pci lock on? try like a 2.5-3-2-5, and then start raising them from there, if you cant get it to post any higher.

burning it up!

Word, mine are unlocked, and I have 3 of the exact same processors to burn up. I am gonna do the first one on air, as far as i can push it, then the 2nd on my refridgerator modification, and the last on dry ice.
