Which company has the better packaging?
I bought a HDD from Amazon years ago and the packaging was dreadful. Bought a 3TB last week with the same result. Does it hurt to at least crumple up a page of a newspaper? Ridiculous.
'Cause they were dying on me twice. Bought a 1TB (8 months) and replaced by a 1.5TB refurb from WD (9 months), then replaced by another 1.5TB refurb from WD. Now on my third Green, in less than 2 years.
Would you keep buying the same product that keeps dying on you?
I did remember at one time, you were able to add a coupon code for this particular switch. First saw it on SD or FW.

It has since been only available in-store.
It's not all about G's, it's the impact it receives during shipping. Have you ever bought a retail hard drive? Do you think the box is that big just for shits and giggles? It's that big because of the protection it has during shipping.
Neither hard drive will reach that limit alone, so 1.5 or 3.0 is moot. But yes, the Caviar Black will be faster than your 36GB Raptor, but not because of the theoretical SATA speed.
