Subwoofer has hum. Toss it?

Yeah, a humming is usually a sign of a ground loop between the power and the signal cable. If it is floating the hum could also be from an unterminated input.

Emerson brand plasma TV?

Emerson Electric Company (Network Power, Process Management, Insinkerator etc) is a very well respected company. Emerson the consumer electronics company is not affiliated with the Emerson electric company. Their TV's, microwaves and radios are definitely low end.

Netbooks all seem about the same

Does anyone know how the dual core 1.6GHz atom will compare to the 1.3GHz Core 2 Duo SU7300? I would expect the Core 2 Duo to be faster than anything labeled Atom, but 300 MHz faster on a stripped down architecture leaves me guessing quite a bit.

Cheap Multi Zone Receiver

Depends on what you are really trying to achieve, but Pioneer makes good audio equipment and since you are looking for cheap I say go with the cheapest non KEH, KLIPS or BOSHE brand amp you can find :p

That Panasonic will work and is definitely a good choice. I think Panasonic makes some of the best 32" LCD's out there. These days it is getting tougher to find "HD Ready Monitors" instead of HDTV's. About 3-4 years ago, finding a large screen LCD that wasn't an "HD Ready Monitor" was tough...

In market for a Bedroom TV

That is a nice TV especially if you are going to use it as a computer monitor. You definitely won't be let down by the picture quality on it, though I don't find the built in sound on Samsung LCD's to be slightly lacking (my bedroom Samsung LCD is attached to a very modest sound system)...

help with the best 19" hdtv

I have a T260HD which I bought last year and is basically the big brother to the T220HD and I like it quite a bit because I use it 80% of the time as a second PC monitor and 20% of the time to actually watch TV. The reason they call the T2X0HD's monitors and not TV's is they use PC resolutions...

For PC use an LCD is definitely recommended over a plasma due to potential Image Retention issues (only if you get careless typically). Also for PC use, 1080p is definitely what you want. 1080p = 1920x1080 as a computer monitor 720p = 1280x720 technically means as a computer monitor...

The V4100 is last years model. If you get a Sony, make sure it has 5000/5100 in its name for this years model. If you get a Samsung make sure it is a B series as A series TV's are last years.

LCD tv's to consider....

I had a Sceptre TV about 2 years ago and I would not touch them with a 10 foot pole. Thank god it was from Costco so I could return it, because it was awful. SD looked like absolute garbage, the VGA input barely worked on any normal resolution and 720p scaling even was lacking pretty bad...

For you, G10 in a heartbeat. Whenever I look a TV's the year over year improvement I am always impressed. I would definitely not buy a 2008 when 2009's are already popping up with great deals.

logitech harmony owners, u guys go through batteries this quick too?

How long do you have your backlight set to? I have a 550 in my bedroom that I have never changed the batteries on in like 8 months now. I used to have a 676 in my living room that easily lasted 3-4 months. Now I have a Harmony One and I generally charge it once every 3-4 weeks on average.

Sadly, you are not going to find anything to match the sound quality of your current set. Flat panel TV's all seem to have much weaker sound than the bigger projection based TVs had. LCD: Vizio has a 55" 1080p LED LCD coming out within the next couple of months that should be pretty nice...

To answer your question, yes Sony makes good TV's, no they are not worth the difference in price. NTB is right on the distinctions for the 2009 model series (5100s). The 4100 V series doesn't to 120Hz, but the 5100 does.
