It does. what about putting in another nVidia card? The 2 GTX295's make it Quad SLI, but I don't run it like that - messes around with the 4 monitors I have. And even Crysis 2 does not push one chip very far. Can you go more than Quad? Maybe then I will go for a GTX 590???!!!

Hi All, Looks like my PSU has blown and my motherboard has got stuck (i7 - 1366). It is not a dead BIOS, but more like a stuck BIOS. Freezes when it is 'Initializing._' the INTEL HDD adapter BIOS. Anyway, was looking at a replacement MB. My current one is rather nice as it has a space...

A sad milestone

I passed a sad milestone a day or so ago. I finally passed amd.borg - sorry Johan. It was quite a target to aim for, but it is finally reached. It always seemed fo far away when you where really giving it stick. Thanks for the challenge. :thumbsup:

pay attention to the capacitators

I got hold of an old Celeron machine what was dead. I had a look at some of the caps and they where swolen. I decided for th hell of it to replace them and low and behold, the machine worked. Ran for a while then dies again. swoen caps again. Replaced them again and still running. My 1000MHz...

Power usage numbers

Agreed, a very interesting post. I was very interested to see the performance of the Atom 330. I have a whole bunch of old P4 3GHz (yes, fair size electricuty bill, but it is cheap here) and I think the Atoms come close, but at a much lower consumption. I suppose economies of scale come in...

Fastest SETI machine ever?

Well, I had a single 295 running off a 650 W PSU and according to the specs, it was close. When I upgraded to the i7 and the second 295, I was sure I would need the 1000W. Based on the current needed by the cards, and OC'ing the CPU, I think I am close. But - not measured.

Hey, we all start somewhere. I have just done 2 million in a month. It took me 15 months (!!!) to get the first 2 million. Boint Stats I suppose the bug has bitten. Every bit counts, so lets crunch!!!

Fastest SETI machine ever?

I have an i7 920 CPU and 2x GTX 295 cards in an ASUS P6T delux board. I have it connected to a 1000W PSU and I think that is just enough. 7 cards would need some serious juice, and yes, I don't think you would get 7 on one MB. The 295's I have are the original reference design and I specifically...

Any idea when the new Gt300 will be coming out? I have managed to get a 939 machine up and running. I had a new FXprocessor for 3 days when the MB blew. The new MD has a PCI-e slot begging to be filled with a dual GPU. Don't exactly want to put a GTX 295 in with an upgrade around the corner. But...

I don't think AQUA plays very nicely. I have had to take my TV tuner out of my i7 box as when I am recording TV, my PC is useless - increadibly slow if I don't snooze BOINC. RT, did yo not mention that there was an optimized version of Milkyway?

Aqua is really p'ing me off. :| The new (recent) WU's have been increadibly long > 100 hours on an i7, unstable and now the CUDA ones are also causing problems. I lost 8 WU's on Friday which had about 50+ hours. Now I just lost 4 CUDA wu's with about 35 hours. I cannot figure out the...

I agree with adding a bit about the theory behind it. That is what gets it going for me. I usually us an example calculating a prime number. 1 perons, 1 number at a time, 2 people, twice as fast, 3 people, ... you get the idea. Why prime - a lot of people can graspt the idea of what a prime is...

Getting GPUGRID to work on 4 GPU's

Yes, you have to disable SLI and extent the desktop. You also seemto have to have a monitor plugged in or at least a dummy plug. the most I could get with the above is 3 running. Then I found the following registry hack. Works very well. What I have found so far is that I cannot overclock to...

Guys, Thanks for all the comments. Looks like C++ looks like a route to follow. The verry little I learnt of it indicated it has a lot of power. Pascal seemed to be a toned down version in terms of 'restricting' features of use by beginners.
