why is my cpu temperature reading so high when running graphics application ?

Ok, here is the system : PIII-700e flipchip on MSI slotket. Asus P3v4x Elsa Gladiac Fong Kai FK320 When the cpu is idle, my cpu temp is around 42 C, case temp is 32 C (its summer here) Then I run rc5 (cpu intensive), cpu temp rise to 56 C (still ok). But when I run some demo from my elsa...

get 900ift instead of 955df. Samsung 955df has lower refresh rate which is bad (unless you like to use low resolution).

I think you should go with 700E, then crank up the FSB to 133, so you will have 933MHz out of 700 (make sure you got the new stepping, cb0)

conroy9, not entirely true, I think you got confused between multithread and multiprocess. Multi-threading is the ability of independent program to perform more than 1 task at what seems to be the same time. A task is a computational unit and corresponds to 1 thread. A program that load data...

LXi, your price on the monitors are not entirely accurate. You mentioned that Samsung 900NF around $340, and KDS around $330, while Sony G400 around $560. Samsung 900NF is actually around $440, and KDS is around $410. Your price reflected the $25 coupons and 10% pointclick from Onvia, but...

Thorn, You are wrong. I forgot the site, but I read it somewhere : the source from Intel said that if you need a processing power of 600Mhz, you probably need a CPU around 800Mhz or even 1GHz, due to some processing powers are dedicated for bus communication, managing memory, OS, ... Hey wait...

There are several coupons lying around that don't require you to use AMEX. Your Samsung 900ift probably is a rare one. I don't want to get your hope high, but usually Samsung offer rebates for every month.

Finished up my hard drive review for UnrealPC

Review looks good. Here is 1 critic : I always hate to read table/picture without any explanation beneath it, I expect reviewer to explain what it means to me, I don't want to use my brain cells to figure it out myself :) But that's me :) Good job overall.

Samsung is IN STOCK there, you just need to call the Customer Service. Onvia has one of the best Customer Service btw. Samsung has flatter tube than KDS (FD Trinitron) and BNC ports (great for graphics). Both are good monitors.

Some stores outside US have already received A7V. I know 1 store in UK sold out of A7V in July 12th, and 1 in Canada also sold out. Btw, for those in Canada and looking for Asus CUSL2 (815e, the board that Anand reviewed), they are IN STOCK.
