If color reproduction / color accuracy is your number 1 priority I would not look at a TN panel based monitor like the 204B that uses dithering. You are probably better off with a monitor that uses an IPS panel, which is the LCD most graphics pros and digital photo geeks would gravitate...

I am not a widescreen convert either. I just wish there were more panel options available in 1600x1200 (or even 19"), especially a decent AS-IPS equivalent (preferably non-glossy) to the NEC 20WGX2 or at least a S-IPS without banding. I think you were looking for something along these lines...

Eek, sorry to hear about the FP2092. :( On the topic of 75Hz+ on LCDs, when I set this after unchecking the 'hide modes' box, my L1970HR does not show the increase in Hz in the OSD (where it still shows 1280x1024 60Hz). Is this normal?

Hmm, that's bad news. I still can't decide whether to take a chance and order one, and return it if unsatisfactory. There is a lack of IPS alternatives at a reasonable price point. When I did a recent search for fast-ish IPS models in 4:3 pixel configurations I found these new models...

Yes, my unit has the big 1600:1 stickied on the front... a bit of specsmanship no doubt but pretty impressive anyway! I hope to borrow another model or two (VX922, 950B, possibly VP930) from some gaming friends for comparison so if anything interesting comes up I'll write more review notes...

True. The web site I linked implies that Dell has already used (or is already using) two panels in the 2007FP: (1) the 16ms S-IPS LG.Philips LM201U0 and (2) the 16ms S-PVA Samsung LTM201U1. I don't know how credible this information is, however.

I'm eager to see this as well. I've had my fingers crossed that the banding problem was due to a bad batch, some settings problem, or was at least subtle enough not to bother me. The 2007FP is the only reasonably inexpensive 20.1" S-IPS, no? This makes it very appealing to me...
