Most science is suicidally boring to 95% of the populace.
Could have him doing geologic surveys and mineral composition assays for uncharted/undercharted worlds.
Which in Star Wars would likely mean he's just supervising a ship of drone-like science droids that collect scans and samples.
It appeals to people who like puzzles; both the ones that think they'd make good detectives, and also to the casual psychopaths who would never actually kill someone but fantasize about how they'd get away with it.
I would suppose it can also give a low level adrenaline kick.
I prefer the street.
With the treadmill the scenery never changes and you can stop whenever you want.
With outside you get sunshine, no gym smell, and when you're tired and want to stop you still have to get home, which forces you to go a little bit further.
My problem with these sorts of stories is that anecdotes are not evidence.
If we had a government program in place that was an unheard of 99.99% effective, you'd have 10,000 examples of it going wrong per million people. That'd be 50,000 cases of it going wrong in my city alone.
People who it...
I got a 65 inch 4K TV last black Friday, and I think it's time to get a media player for it.
I've been out of the home theater scene for quite some time, so I'm looking for suggestions on make or model.
This is the TV in question

budget ~$210
You're not supposed to actually watch it. It's supposed to just give your hands something to do to keep your subconscious preoccupied. My friends who "need" them don't even take them out of their pockets most of the time.
I bought a Blacksys CF-100 Dual channel HD dashboard camera
Reasons:
1. It gets HOT in Texas, so I needed a capacitor camera
2. Front and back camera
3. CF-100 is discontinued, so I could get it pretty cheap (about $100 when I got it a year ago)
...Now that I'm typing this though it occurs to...
Ok; I'm thinking of getting a tricorne hat to go with my musket. (and possibly to double as part of a pirate costume later)
Which of the following do you all think looks best?
brown - raw edge
brown - trimmed
black - raw edge
If you want to call BS on a current scientific theory you can't just poke holes in the analogy used to try and give laymen a visual picture. You're going to have to poke holes in the actual underlying math.
I'll just wait here while you go do the relevant post-grad and probable post-doctoral work.
The speed a pro can swing that club would not be significantly helped by adding the speed at which a human can run (given a few yards start).
Add to that the loss of accuracy and it just makes no sense at all.
I'm not a fan of prison religious surveys.
In addition to all the problems with any self-reporting metric it's in almost every prisoner's interest to be able to tell the parole board they "found Jesus."
the twinworks logo (two little guys instead of one) denotes the higher end product for Henckels. Probably uses a better steel. I'd go with the $40 one.
I don't really hold chef knives by the handle much anyway so that's a non issue to me; I'd prefer a steel I don't have to sharpen as often.

Since the electors are chosen by the parties the only realistic "dump Trump" scenario in my mind is that they elect Pence for President and Trump as Vice President.
Which is not an improvement to me, but the congressional Republicans would probably be over the moon.
I don't think we should have the death penalty.
But barring that option I think we should do it right if we have to have it, and that's by inert gas asphyxiation. Cheap, humane (or as humane as it gets, at least), and foolproof. The condemned get sleepy and just never wake up.
