Thanx all for your help, i think I will stick with my current system for the time being. I shall wait till conroe enters the market and see how that goes for performance/price and if it is as good as people are saying the left over money can go into the newer architecture.
Now that I look...
ok, I currently have an ATI 9600XT (awesome card for its time) and I would like to stick ith ATI, but another question is: do the ATI chipsets on the mobo perform as well as the Nvidia counterparts?
Seasonic is out of the question, they are on the other side of the country and I didnt plan on posting it, I will use them only if they are a heap better than any others.
O...K well i think I will not go SLI then, i just thought it would allow me to boost performance in the games that arent out yet which will hopefully then justify it as an upgrade path. ATM isnt it maily driver issues keeping SLI as a bad performer in practice? Does the 7900GTX perform as well...
lol, bad luck mate :P. I have not found any direct comparisons of the ATI chip v the nvidia chip, or the 2 gfx cards running on either. What does the 1900 tend to do better than the 7900GT? I think I might stick with the NEOHE it seems a solid performer and I am sure the problems have been...
atm the PhysX card is not for retail sale I think and i dont think it offers much of an increase in performance to the games it can be run on. I dunno, but I think I will save the money. Just any firther tweaks on the above system or comments on my last comment :P would be greatly appreciated...
LOL ok guys, im in australia and the prices are a bit inflated due to the weaker dollar. A 7900GT OC (520mhz) is $520 :P. I am upgrading from my curent system and I can wait but dont want to. It has random problems which come up and are a pain to fix, but are fixable, just recently the BIOS...
If u plan on overclocking and cant wait for the Conroe, go for an AMD opteron, they oerclock heaps and are cheap. Id go for an XFX 7900GT (520Mhz). Id go with a western digital HDD with the extra cache (not sure what it is woth speed/dollar). Everything else seems like a good idea. I am a...
I have a 2800 XP athlon and my clock started to run overly fast (about 1 min every second :P). I went to trash the system cos nothing would run (windows crashed, froze on bootup etc) and decided to give it one more try, to I reconnected the power, monitor and the keyboard and it is now working...
Hi. I am designing a system and have come about 300 dollars under budget so was wondering what I could get with that 300 dollars. Dont need to buy a case or speakers, dont need a monitor but can upgrade. My system is gonna be:
AMD Opteron 165 (thinking of 170?)
ASUS A8N32 SLI (sticking with...
I dont like the look of the tower sinks cos I am always moving the computer around and having the heat sink sitting 10 to 15cm over the mobo does freak me out a bit. I will look into the SI. Thank you and I also think I will be going for the ASUS mobo too, it seems better for me as I have not...
I thought the XP was better cos it is actually joined to the base, where the SI is just sitting on the heatpipes. OK thanx for the reply. I am planning to overclock and really like the A8N32 but was worried about the heatpipes getting in the way of the cooler. It looks like a good board on paper...
I have a P180. Its a very nice case with a good layout. I was a bit dissapointed with the noise proofing tho. I have a +2800 athlon with stock HSF and an Albatron KX18D PROii with a slightly noisy NB fan and the case does dampen the noise a bit, but not a lot. Also a problem with the front door...
Hi, I was wondering if the heatpipe on the ASUS will get in the way of the thermalright PX120 cooler. I am also in a limbo between the DFI and the ASUS boards. Here in australia they are both priced the same and i cant decide between either. How does the DFI go when cooling the mofsets and...
