Files wont move with cmd either. While doin some searches in google i came across a guy with a very similar prob., it turned out rootkits was the cause of his problem.
I downloaded RootKitRevealer from www.sysinternals.com, done a scan and it showed up 7 possible infections but from what i...

Yeah, i've been there tried everything and all the links but did not help. I'm now tiying to find how to get the the Network Connections service back in the services section of the device manager.
Two mouths ago I posted a problem where my Icons where missing in dial-up and connection folder. They Still are.
From what i've been reading this is a common issue with win2k. My problem seems to be a services issue.
I've checked the following services:
Plug and Play
Network Connections...
Had the same prob. when tryin to do a clean re-install of Win 2K. Removing all my pci cards solved the problem.
Also a friend of mine told me that XP only allows you to do one re-install, i'm not 100% sure if it's true or not, so don't take it to heart.
I've just tried windizupdate it's the bee's knees. My Auto updates stopped working awhile ago so i had to download all updates manully. I thought iwas up to date but windizupdate found 40 i hadn't installed, cool. Thanks guys.

It's not a serious prob. more an annoying one, those icons should be there, but they're not and I...
Glad to hear you found some sort of a solution. I agree with you on the extended warrenty, if it breaks they fix it. My PC is a self build and it turns out to be more trouble than it's worth, there is always something wrong with it.
I feel your pain. Without a 2nd PC to test your ram, processor and cards it's going to very hard find the cause, beg, borrow or steel 1. If I think of anything new I'll post it.
God, I don't know. But If the video card was broken your PC should start and boot up normally, but you would not see any thing on the monitor.
Are u using the same processor and ram on the new motherboard and were u overclocking them on the old one? If you were overclocking you might have...
Just a quick shot in the dark: Is your "power on" switch faulty or broken? Maybe it's a stupid thought but it's always the simplest things we overlook.
This MADDness will never end because no mater what laws and rules governments try to enforce there will always be someone unhappy about it. You can't please 100% of the people 100% of the time.
And for the record I think drinking and driving is stupid & selfish.
I need some help on setting up port forwarding for UTorrent 1.6 on my router. It a Netopia 2200 series (model 2247NWG-VGx to be exact). I've visited www.portforward.com but cannot find info. specific to my router. I've looked it up on google but the results i got was for an earlier series of the...
I've been a bit busy of late so my PC had to take a back seat for a while, but now i'm back and no my icons haven't re-appeared.

I've read through the anandtech link...
I think I was a bit hasty in posting the above reply, because anything that was suggested in the http://support.microsoft.com/kb/269019/ link did not work. I even tried everything twice and i'm having no luck searching on google because all results are basically repeating everything in microsoft...

Kaspersky also found 43 other malicious files on my PC, which i was more than...
I've been looking for a good antivirus program,I havent found a good all rounder. Some are just plain useless and others slow down my pc. I'll try Kaspersky, does it slow down your pc?
I'm using Zone Lab's ZoneAlarm Firewall, Webroot's SpySweeper and Windows Defender none of these found anything, except ZoneAlarm which as i've said warns me when 51ec286b.exe is looking to access the net. I'll try VirusTotal. Thanks
