Upgrade from a gtx670

I have a 8 gigs ddr3 2400 an intel 4670k at 4.3 and I am rocking a gtx 670 I need a decent gaming video card upgrade without breaking the bank. Right now on 1080, but would like hit 1440 when my monitor goes TU. it's 7 years old. Thoughts?

The 980tis around me all seem to be $300+ Seems like a lot for a used card. Where do you find them for a reasonable price?

I have been eeking my 670 out for an extra year.. it would appear that was a mistake. I can no longer afford a 1070 which is what I had budgeted my cash for. I have gotten to where I can run things, but have to turn settings down.. am I out of PC gaming for a while? are there other options...

Yeah, I can't do MIRs because the budget is $1000. I don't have 6 months to wait to get that money back and I don't have the extra $200 it costs now to pay above the budget whilst I wait.

Anyone else noticing bad FPS in Diablo 3?

Moving diablo 3 to an SSD was one of the best things I did. It likes to do a lot of loading. This helps a lot with the hitches that look like FPS drops, but are infact not.

I thought Nvidia was already doing this in Opengl which is why they have their own specific extensions.. and why games based on opengl run faster on nvidia hardware.

Or you can just turn a few settings down that have little visual impact and enjoy your card without upgrading. Most of us do that for many years.

4670k temps

I was gonna let everything run for a couple of weeks to make sure all the hardware was good before I OC. Though my Ram is at 2400mhz. That is what it is rated to run though.. and it does so perfectly.

I just put in my new 4670k. It is running stock right now with CPUZ reporting 1.128v. At full stock boost of 3.8ghz it runs 28c idle. But at Prime 95 I am hitting 66 C on the main core. I am using a true spirit 120m with a artic f12 cooling fan. I replaced the fan with this fan because...

errr.. so if what I am reading in the notes is true the only people who benefit are people with a 290 and above? Apparently they are going to optomize for every other GPU in a future release? I am confused.. does this mean mantle has to be catered to each GPU type independently?

I was going to upgrade, but it sounds like in just a few months we get series 9 mobos that support broadwell. I find it surprising that the 1150 is already going out, but that is the way of things. So shall I keep my q9550 running along for a few more months?

Was planning on buying a new proc today, can get a good deal on either $180 for the 4670k or $250 for the 4770k. I was wondering for gaming and general work if the 4770 is worth the extra bucks or not. I can afford to do either.

I have never RMA'd Asus, but their tech support is friggin horrible. If you get a working board that never has an issue they are great.
