Cel300A + Abit BH6 not booting

wfay, some tips before ya junk that board. try powering on without keyboard and then without mem. (for beep tests). But what should work is to drain power supply by hitting on switch with it unplugged, then attempting to power up with the insert key held down, this may take many attemps Geo...

Just got my Hercules Fortissimo III 7.1 in....quick review.

KDOG, ya forgot to mention one of the best features which is the many output jacks that includes one for headphones. 2 clicks from the sys-tray and I'm switching from my always connected headphones, Z540's at desk area, or spdif connected to living room speakers. Great sound, a keeper Geo

Maxtor vs. Barracuda (HDD recommendation)

I have 3 WD800JB in the house and 2 Barracuda IV's. Get the WD800JB The seagate's ARE dead silent, but the WD800JB is very close. You won't know it's there. WD800JB is faster. I can see it just by exploring files. Geo

How to install Win98 on a Win2K machine for dual boot?

Skaven, My first thought is have ya tried to run the application by enabling W98 compatibility mode, which reqires W2k service pack 2 or greater?????

Barracuda IV and default cylinder prob.

Seagate cuda IV ST380021A 80 gig, 3 weeks old, problem since new. Tested on MSI Turbo2 and now used on KT3 Ultra. Heads 16 Sectors 63 cylinders 16,383 BUT.......... both bios reads cylinders at 38,309 ?????? which seem to be the cause of major file coruption during tranfers...

Seagate Barracuda IV, Quiet seek, Performance seek Utility

I've spent way to much time on Seagates site trying to find the utility to turn on or off the Barracuda IV, quiet seek/performance seek function. Don't see where it is included in any Discwizard or SeaTools package. Thanks Geo.

Thunderstorm killed nics???

Looking for downloadable drive copying program

Anyone know of any drive copying program that one could grab, as my Drive Copy (old version 2.0) isn't getting it with a 40Gb Seagate I'm trying to add/replace for friend. Thanks Geo.

Backup Exec errors...burning coasters!!! (Repost)

I also use Backup Exec. on W98, and with a Plextor 24/10/40A and HP 8100I. Never had prob. XP thing????? Have ya tried a good known Quality CD brand? I've never had any trouble with Fuji 16X (they burn at 24) and the Mitsumi gold disc. Just a thought. Geo

HELP: Need a File recovery utility for XP

Good find, R-Studio would have saved me $20.00 (fat32), but I'm not complaining. Much better ntfs pricing. << recovering 2500 mp3's, 100's of digital pictures, and 100's of home video captures is worth the price. The first thing I am going to do is grab a spindle of CD's and start burning...

Panaflo L1A's or adjustable Enermax's

lastig21, I just replaced my power supply fan with the adjustable Enermax 92mm. The dial movement ranges from about 6 o'clock low to full on at 12 Decreasing fan speed, it's noisless at 10. I've spent way to much on 80mm and 90mm fans, these are keepers when "Noise is the major factor". Geo...

CALLING ALL VISIONEER SCANNER USERS![update] Nope! none of the suggestion would work!

Been a while since used but key word here is EXPORT. Once scanned and ya got your thumbnail on the *Paperport desktop* right click on it and should have option to export, (file type, and comp. % ratio when choosing jpeg), and what DIR you want to save it in. Geo
