I really appreciate the information in this thread as it gives insight into the whole development process. The thing that makes me nervous is all of the talk about needing the newest chipsets. This all focuses on upgradability of current systems and whether the new processors will perform...
Actually I can think of a reason. We KNOW that Conroe already has plenty of headroom for speed increases IF Intel chooses to release them. IF AMD knows that they can release a competitive product to current Conroe processors but may be challenged to match a competitive part at higher speed...
I can vouch for the Arcticlean linked in the last post. I've tried 90% alcohol in the past and never thought it cleaned up as easy as people seemed to suggest. If I was cleaning lots of processors maybe I would try to save a few bucks, but the bottle of Arcticlean I have is probably a lifetime...
I've used the Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe for about 9 months now without a hitch. Plenty of overclocking options, nice and quiet due to passive heat pipe cooling on the chipset, and prompt BIOS upgrades when new AMD processors come out. I can't comment on the integrated sound because I've used my SB...
After you've looked at how to build one and punched the calculator on how much it will cost, I would also compare it to just buying a DVR.

Yeah, fair enough criticism of that particular review. The article itself is over a year old and, I'm guessing, they probably felt like a quick commentary was enough at that point in time. More recent reviews on power supplies by the same site include individual rail data on a chart.
