Who has there 1.6a northwood at 2.4ghz?

Mine can boot at 2.4 GHz, but it's anything but stable. Moreover, I had to have the voltage at 1.775v, and if I wanted it to be stable, I'd probably have to hit 1.8v. Not something I want at all. It's running stable now at 1.6v, 133MHz FSB: 2.133 GHz. It's a setup most people are comfortable...

Yes, it is rather odd, but does it matter? I mean, if you can get the chip to run at 133 MHz FSB without any problems, do you really need to worry about which way you get it to run at 133 MHz? I think you should just be happy with having the ability to run it at 2.1, some people don't have that...

The only other thing I can think of is... Are you sure it's a northwood? Did you check the chip? Quite frankly, it's either an original P4 1.8 or a 1.8 Northwood only designed to run at 1.8 (there are a few rumors going around that some of the highly overclockables are marked down 2.0 or 2.2...

OK, to sum things up for those of you who thought about it or are curious: I first got the chip to overclock as high as 128 MHz FSB without any special cooling and on a 300W generic power supply. That pushed it to 2.05 GHz basically. It would actually go higher, but I'm talking 100% stability...

i'm not quite sure how the pc2100/2400 etc thing works, but I believe that DDR 333 is pc2400. That means 166mhz x 2 (ie, 166.6666666... x 2 = 333.3333333...). Therefore DDR 2700 is maybe 200 x 2 (or 400)? Heck, I don't really know. But I think that's how it works.

Why didnt Intel just make the Northwood at 133 fsb?

The Northwood-B will have 133 MHz FSB from what I've read. Not quite sure why they went with 100MHz FSB for the first batch, but I don't really mind. It overclocks like crazy and performs better than the previous Pentium IV so who cares really? :)

Which P4 to choose?

If the FSB is set at 150, won't everything be running in spec? Well, perhaps not the DDR, depending on which memory you're getting. But I know some folks out there got their P4's to hit 150 MHz FSB, and I seem to recall it's the next "in spec" FSB level.
