Thoughts on watercooling for a newb

Why spend over $500 on a whole new motherboard, CPU, and RAM when I can most likely spend around $200 on a watercooling setup I can use indefinitely??? I didn't ask if I should upgrade my setup, I asked about water cooling. Please if you aren't going to talk about water cooling, don't even post.

Buy 8800GTX now or wait?

I appreciate all the comments, but I think I will wait a couple of weeks to see what the prices do with all the new cards coming out. It looks like there is a mad rush to sell all the 8800GTX's and 8800GT's before the prices drop. I imagine the HD3870x2 will be around $375-$400 in about 3 weeks.

What is the best way to remove thermal paste?

I'd go with the Q-tip and isopropyl alcohol too. Definately do not use a paper towel, cotton rag or anything else like that. If you can't find a Q-tip and you are desperate just lightly use a tissue (but be careful not to scrub too hard because the tissue with melt on you).

Are my case temps too high?

Well I changed my timings on the ram and now it seems like memtest is just fine. The timings were 4-4-4-12. Default was 5-5-5-15. I just changed the timings back to default and so far no errors on memtest. It would be great if that was the problem.

I just ran Memtest and there were errors. There were a total of 58 errors. I have G.Skill ram. Are 58 errors within the limits or are any errors a bad thing?

Okay I ran Prime95 but it is reporting a hardware error. This really has me concerned. I am just hoping that it is the PSU and not the memory or the CPU. CPU temp gets up to 52C at load. Is that too high?

Yes that is the correct PSU and the correct case. However, the 120mm PSU fan seems to be an exhaust and not an intake. The PSU pulls air from the rear (it has a vented back plate) and seems to push air out the side. So basically the PSU is being cooled all by itself. It doesn't seem to get...

DX10 Card - when to buy?

Personally since I just picked up a 1900XTX I will be waiting at least two years to upgrade my video card. Besides DX10 will most likely take another year or so to get all the kinks worked out.

Well I will know if that is the problem tomorrow when I get my 700W XCLIO PSU in. Hopefully that fixes the problem. The Ultra PSU is a budget PSU and the XCLIO is a Greatpower so I shouldn't have any PSU related problems at all.

Are my case temps too high?

Spontaneous reboot is what happens. I have never had it freeze on me and there have been no black screens. It just seems to randomly reboot when I am playing BF2142 (it has also happened when I was playing neverwinter nights 2). If it is a bad stick of ram what is the best way to test that?
