nothing? i did a ton of reading last night (14 pages searching access point) but everything i found talked about elzen's guide which involved connecting the two routers physically via patch cord. i tried the methods described for giggles, but nada... also, my wrt54g is version 8.. tried...

selective sharing.. what a pain

so here's the deal, due to my temporary living arrangement i have been paying my neighbor to use his internet connection via a usb dongle on my pc. internet works great (well, great for wireless) but now i run into a new problem. i have a lot of random media on my pc, and i have an xbox hooked...

Connecting two routers together

don't understand why the first option didn't work.. did you make sure to set the ip settings properly on the netgear one? you know, disabling dchp and setting a static ip and all that..?

Found a Black Widow Outside (Female)

we caught a huge one at work quite a few months back.. kept it in a slurpee cup. even whipped up a sweet airlock for it so we could toss in random bugs and ****** without risk of getting nailed.. this went on for about 3 weeks, then one day we go to put a moth in there and good old charlotte...

want a cheap media server..

if it's just a back-up thing i'm not gonna bother with raid at all.. i back-up all my data to verbatim dvd-r's (thank god for my bestbuy discount) right now i've got 5 50ct spindles stacked up in my closet full of avi-converted dvd rips and fortunately, it looks like i get to save some cash...

want a cheap media server..

having never had it before, what's the benefit to running raid? i have only had ide drives before.. the one sata drive i have now is in an external enclosure (yeah, it sucks to find out that sata drivers had to be installed during original os install)

want a cheap media server..

onboard video will be fine.. this is just gonna act as a big NAS. the only time i'll plug a monitor in is when i set it up. thanks for the mobo rec. though.. forgot to check for gigabit lan edit... doh! maybe not? doesn't show it being compatible with sempron cpu's

okie doke.. as stated, i'm looking to build myself a dedicated media server for my house. right now, my main pc is acting as the storage bin for all my ripped movies so i can stream throughout the house to xboxes in almost every room. i think i remember reading that a pc used for strictly media...

New Project Machine - need some ideas

you could do what i'm doing with my old sff... building it into a custom case with small lcd and speakers, turning it into a self contained little jukebox strictly for music / music video files. think it'll be a neat little nightstand stereo

network storage.. getting confused

hmm.. the idea of a server box seems like a possible winner. what all would i need in it though? if multiple pc's and xboxes are accessing it, would i need to build it fairly decent? like will the thing need a ton of ram to handle the different requests, or will it strictly be pulling info...

network storage.. getting confused

here's the deal.. i have a LOT of media that i need to store on my pc/network (converting all my movies from dvd/vhs to xvid) and i am steadily running out of room as time progresses. it's gotten to the point now where i just don't have any more room in my tower (or ide channels for that matter)...

all in one benchmark program..

so after a lot of back and forth with mach speed's tech line (great guys over there btw) i've finally got my rig up and running.. i'll post up some specs once i start oc'ing the thing, but for now i'll get straight to my question.. does anyone here know of a good all-around benchmarking...

yeah, i've scoured that manual front to back several times.. can't find anything about a barton-specific cpu. oh well.. will hopefully get ahold of mach speed on monday to find out what i need to do.

nada.. no beeps at all. for 'its and giggles i put the cpu/cooler/ram/vid card back into my old ssf case and she fired right up. i'm thinkin that either the mobo is bad, or it doesn't support my barton cpu.. i'm gonna rma it back to newegg and then drop a line to mach speed to find out whether...
