www.tweakguides.com has a general system tweak guide which covers page files. Generally, it advises not to have a system-managed page file system. Take a look, if you haven't already.

Is your system page file set to the right size? You might want to look into that. You could look at tweakguides' guide to optimising the system which would tell you the optimal size for the page file.

7950 GX2 -- who's to buy, and with conroe?

Those scores are low...I have an E6600 (FSB OC'd to 333) with Inno3d 7950GX2, Corsair C3 DDR2-800 RAM and I scored 9,159 on 3D Mark 06. Looks like something may be wrong on your system. Did you clean out your old drivers properly? I am now using the 91.47 WHQL from Nvidia. Something is holding...

Question about CPU ocing?

No need to go water-cooling if you are not trying to break records or do aggressive OCing. With air-cooling, you can OC your x6800 up to 3.4GHz safely at stock voltages. Also, Conroes can go up to 60C temp so unless you are pushing close, you should be ok - you won't even get close at 3.4GHz...

Still no 590 SLI for Intel?

Saw a new nForce 570 SLI board just come out by a brand called "Magic Pro". On sale on our favourite auction site as well for US$129.99 it seems....anyone heard of this brand? http://www.magic-pro.com/product/socket775/P6N-SLI.htm

Problems with my system and it might be the Asus P5ND2-SLI

Honestly doubt it's the Antec PSU that's the problem. If there is insufficient power, the system normally just shuts down. RAM problems you get BSODs. Lock-ups and freezes, could be software-related, or maybe the graphics card?

Any 590 SLI boards for Intel?

Finally got my grubby hands on an E6600, now I need the 590. Have been using the Asus 590 with the AM2 cpu for a couple of months now and I have to say, it is a fantastic board, very OC-friendly. Plus it will work with the 7950 which I am running now.

nForce 5-series SLI Intel edition?

Great news, I saw the P5N32 SLI SE too but that is nForce4. I wonder what's going on with these mobo guys, when AM2 came out, they were so quick but they seem to be slower on the Conroes. Probably the Nvidia-Intel relationship not as good as the AMD-Nvidia relationship - pre-ATI deal of course.

Help OC AM2 4600

I didn't change it. As myocardia said, you don't have to. Most (probably almost all) X2s can go up 200MHz on stock voltage.

Should I overclock AMD 64 Winchester using nTune?

Not as good as using BIOs but you can try Asus' own AI Booster software

nForce 5-series SLI Intel edition?

Have been looking for one of these before upgrading to an E6600 - a local dealer has offered one to me, supposedly coming in the next week or so. Planning to replace CPU and mobo on my system...does anyone have any ideas when the nForce 5 SLI will be released? Nvidia has drivers on their website...

Help OC AM2 4600

That's very odd, I have almost the same settings with my Asus M2N32 SLI, X2 4600+, 2GB Corsair 6400C4. I have also OC'd to 217 FSB and system is very stable for a week now: FSB: 217 Multiplier: 12X CPU voltage: 1.392V HTT: 5X RAM speed: 866MHz (800 divider) RAM voltage:2.0V (default)...

Which heatsink for an AM2

I have the Zalman CNPS9500, it works well with AM2. My CPU temps go down 5-7C with this compared to the stock heatsink. Very easy to install but I think it costs around $50.

Wow, that's almost identical to mine. For RAM, I'm running DDR2 800, 2x1GB. Got the C4 version (6400C4) with the Nvidia SLI-Ready logo (don't know what use it is). No problems on memory at all - also enabled SLI memory in BIOs at "High Performance" setting (i.e. 800MHz, no RAM overclocking)...

Looks like I found the offending program(s). It is the Creative software - lots of stuff installed when you install from the CD. I have uninstalled everything and installed just the bare Creative drivers from their website. The lag seems to have gone (for now). The shutdown error used to happen...

Thanks all for the replies. The lag stays and doesn't go away. It's like when you close a window, the window 'sticks' on the screen for an extra 2-3 seconds before going away. I have a pretty big page file. Also have ZoneAlarm and NOD32 running all the time. I don't typically have any other...
