Truth is up to you and how far you are willing to go. The Opty is a beefier chip and over clocks very well and high. I picked the 4400+ becuase I wanted to start from a higher clock so I didn't have to over clock it too high to get it where I want it... Even though there is no problem over...
I have had a PSU go bad and do the same thing... It is hard to tell what it could be... My PSU messed up the CPU witch then messed up the motherboard... I had to replace all three to get it fixed... I went though 3 CPU and 2 Motherboard...
Actually, The heat increase is because you are now running two core instead of one. The X2 3800+ uses less wattage/voltage than the Single cores, so it should be less of a stress on your PSU.
At normal settings you want to keep your HT as close to 1000 as possible example 5x*200=1000 (HT multiplier * FSB = 1000) 4x*250=1000 and so on. It can be below or just above. I am running my HT 4x*255=1020, Memory @ 166 divider due to the fact I am running DDR400 and want to keep it close to...
I would upgrade any Video below a 6800... I beleive there is a big defference... And with a PCIe it would be one less thing to upgrade later... Within the next month or so I am giong to go with a MSI K8N Diamond Plus and twin 7900GT's SLI... I also beleive there is a noticable differenece going...

You can always do a simple overclock and hit 2.4 to find out. .200 is not going to amaze you with perforance but it is a little more. now if you where coming from a non dual core I would say yes.
NO!!!
I would run the machine let it get hot warm.
Shut down pull the plug.
unlatch the HS twist and remove. Old HS usually stink the the CPU so be carefully, you do not want to remove both at the same time. There is a alcohol type to remove compound but the truth I have use paper towel...
Yes it is very tall and wide but still not as heavy as it looks. I have it install with the back plate that came with the HS. I the case I have is the "Kingwin MutantX" and it barely fits in the case. Also if you plan on getting one check your board for interference with memory and such. My...
Simple. (it would be very smart to have your self grounded out too!!!)
1) Remove HSF clean compound off of bottom set to side.
2) Lift rod on side of Processor striaght up, lift CPU up, set aside.
3) Install new CPU push down the rod add AS5 per specs.
4) Add HSF.
I have C'n'Q off. Abient Temp is 25c-26c The Ninja I am running has 6 heatpipes & 120mm fan. I am using Core temp to calculate my temps. I beleive with the 4 heatpipe stock HSF you should beable to hit 2.4 easy. I have read very good reviews about that HSF.
If it was me, I would use a shim "Example" and leave the IHS off. I don't think by laying the IHS on and adding the HSF will be as effective as if it was standard.
I am currently running the ADV 2.8 @ 1.35V Temps running 31c idle and 52c Load. Everyone say the 3800+ is the best bang for the buck but I had to try the 4400+ myself.
I am having nothing but great luck with this processor and am very happy with it.
The AM2 and the C2D are both PCIe. They do not make one for AGP. Not that I have seen. For AGP I would go for a 939 or a pentium D series and would need a 3 series chipset motherboard. If you are planning on going AM2 or C2D it would be very wise to update the video card too since it too is...
When I put my 4400+ in I was able to boot up and run no problem using Windows XP Pro. XP found the new hardware and installed the currect drivers. I also did do a bios update to the latest bios. I upgraded from a 3200+ and found that playing games now are much smoother... Also I would go under...
I also recommend the Scyhe Ninja. I am running 22-23 idle and between 25-28 load with an AeroCool Xtreme Turbine fan.
AMD 64 3200+ @ 2.5, 2g Corsair twin Pro DDR400, X-Connect PSU, MSI NEO 2 Platium.
