I watched your video. The explosions ALWAYS makes my FPS dip and I have a much stronger system than yours. Dips to 25-30 when I'm in something that explodes. Sorry but that's just the way it is.

Or you could probably overclock your 2500K (I mean, what's the point of having a K-chip if you don't overclock it) to at least 4.2 to 4.4, it should be doable with a small bump in volts and the extra heat wouldn't be that much more.

Just trust me. MSAA doesn't do shit, just lower to Medium or High. You can't expect smooth gameplay with Ultra.

Ultra WILL kill your FPS. With a GTX 780 I play on Low/Medium at 2560x1400 just to maintain 100 FPS on my Yamakasi Catleap. And this is with a 4670k at 4.7GHz. Dips bother the hell outta me.

Take a screenshot of your video settings in BF3. Take a screenshot of your GPU-Z window. Take a screenshot of the HWMonitor (from www.cpuid.org) AFTER playing 15 minutes of BF3. And post them here.

Questions for note 2 owners

The OP obviously means Q6600 and E6600. OP, on some forums it's required to label CPU parts correctly or else we'd get confused.

Athlon II X2 250 OC'ing

I'd probably recommend you to grab the Phenom II X2 550 instead. It's the 3.1Ghz dual core with 6mb L3 cache.

Casual OC e6300 on P5Q PRO

I remember I couldn't even squeeze more than 2.8GHz out of my first E6300, but it was doable with the stock heatsink. The E6300's thermal threshold is 85°C so you can go in OCCT's options and change the max temp to 85 from 70. I thought the stock FSB was 266x7=1.86GHz on the E6300. Perhaps...

Asus PQ5-EM...Great Board In The Making?

I would probably recommend the DFI Lanparty Jr. P45 mATX motherboard if you wanted to overclock. ;) And one of my friends has the older ASUS P5E-VM HDMI, he's got his Q6600 at 3.2GHz on it.

I apologize that I didn't mention that the 3600+ was clocked at 3.0 GHz, and the 5400+ was at 3.2GHz. 10x320 but the point is it doesn't matter if the 6000+ is using older tech, it's still faster than the Brisbanes. I've owned two of them - and you're calling me a fanboy? Please, don't be...

Not true. I had two different Brisbanes, the 3600 and 5400 BE. They were nothing compared to my stock 6000+, which still obliterates the Brisbanes even with older fab. There's just something about Brisbanes that make them suck so much for gaming. The 2MB Windsors, despite their power...

motherboard phenom 9950 BE?

I wouldn't get that if I were you. Mainly because it has the SB600 southbridge and it doesn't overclock as well as the 790GX/SB750s can do, so I would recommend looking at the newer ones. P.S. SB600 wasn't exactly the most successful one to use with Vista and a couple of hard drives.

So I picked up a new CPU.. q9650 runs @ 4050mhz prime stable, I have not tried lower or higher LOL

What are the rest of your specs? Mobo, Vid card, etc. since you have nothing in your sig. It'd be nice to know which board you overclocked on. ;)

Upgrading 7800GTX

My BFG 7800 idles at around 40-43c. Its one of those custom BFG copper heatsinks which help a little.. highest load temp I've seen was 65c.

Which is a better GPU, 9800GX2 or GTX260

I'd go for the GTX 260. It isn't worth the trouble trying to do a workaround on SLI problems with the 9800GX2 that some games don't support.

Please Help Remove stuck motherboard screw

Usually I take the board out, leaving the stuck motherboard standoffs on it. Then I take needlenose pliers and unscrew it myself. I hope you know what I meant!

New HIS 4850 ICEQ4 question

I had a HIS IceQ3 3870 and they were the most awesome looking 3870's ever. Never had problems, and the heatsink on it helps a lot with overclocking. Go for it!

I would suggest taking the card out and do an inspection yourself. See if there's a dust cake that's between the heatsink fins & the fan, that's where there's no airflow occurring anywhere.

Download version 1.01 (32-bit). Download version 1.01 (64-bit). Use HWMonitor to check for temps. I usually get the most accurate readings from this program.

Good lord, 115C. It should be staying UNDER 70c for optimal/good performance. Please make sure the fan is spinning or re-apply new paste on the heatsink.

Was I expecting too much from this processor?

Usually the theory is the faster the RPM is, the more power it takes to spin that, and that's what hurts the battery life. So some things for laptops are gimped...

Disappointed with my 4850

Somehow I don't know if reformatting is going to fix the problem. I've swapped two or three different Nvidia and ATI cards on the same XP install before and I never had problems that you're experiencing. (Uninstall drivers, reboot to safe mode, use Driver Cleaner, then reboot & install drivers...

DDR2 1066 Mobo, will it accept ddr2 800 ram?

Boards that support, say, 1333 FSB will always be backwards compatible in terms of speed (like DDR2-1100, DDR2-800, DDR2-667 but not pin-count, like 184-pin DDR lol). I hope you understand what I meant...
