Well, I'm getting random reboots with 1.1K and my USB HDD plugged in. For now I've moved the HDD back to an add-in PCI USB card. I'll post back if it still reboots.
So I did 2 things and now the USB drive has been working fine:Plugged the drive directly into the USB port on the motherboard instead of going through a hubRebooted the PC with the drive on. Initially I had booted into XP before turning the external drive onSo it looks like 1.1k fixes the problem.
Unfortunately it doesn't look like bios 1.1K helps. My machine is now randomly rebooting. I'll try moving the USB drive back to my PCI USB card and see if the rebooting stops.
Machine froze almost the moment after I plugged in my Adaptec IDE->USB enclosure. Today I got a new enclosure with the Cypress chipset and haven't frozen after about 30 minutes of steady activity on the disk.

Something else I just noticed through device manager. Looks like the 4 ports on the back of the board are divided between 2 controllers actually. One is Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller and one is Standard OpenHCD USB Host Controller. Wonder if that has something to do with it.

Let's get a list of working/non-working USB storage devices. I'll start:
Non-working:
Dazzle 8-in-1 USB 2.0 Card Reader
Atech PRO-Gear XM-4U USB 2.0 Card Reader
Adaptec ACS-100 USB 2.0 Hard Drive Enclosure

Wow, I haven't been keeping up enough with this thread.
Anyway, my system does not lock up at all if I don't have my USB card reader or external HDD plugged in.
I am using the nVidia sound drivers and did not install their firewall.

Any chance you are using a usb keyboard or mouse? On my friends machine, unplugging the usb keyboard made the error go away. I think we then disabled the USB legacy support.

In case anyone is curious, here's how I was able to get this working:
[list=1]
In the BIOS, enable RAID. Do not enable any disks for RAID however.
Boot into Windows and reinstall nvidia IDE drivers
In the BIOS, enable RAID on the disks you want
In the nvidia RAID BIOS, create a new RAID...
Can I setup nvraid for Raid 1 (mirroring) on my boot drive without reinstalling Windows? Would I need to reinstall the nvIDE drivers for it to install the Raid tools?
Thanks,

My theory now is that it's related to my external USB hard drive enclosure. I'm going to leave it unplugged for a couple days and see if I still get lockups.

I let memtest+ run for 1 complete pass and no error were reported. I only have a couple days left on my return window, so at this point I'm going to have to exchange it, unless I find the culprit very soon.

The PSU is an Antec TruePower 2.0 480w. It has the 24-pin plug and 18A on both of the 12V rails (36A total). Originally I was using a 380w PSU w/ 18A on the 12V, but replaced it hoping to fix the lockups.
The memory is Kingston HyperX. I was using Mushkin Enhanced before, but also replaced...
Hi all,
I'm hoping someone can help me figure this out. I just got an ECS nforce4a-939 and Athlon 64 3800+ X2 and am having major issues with the system hanging. I did a clean install of XP Pro and am using the latest BIOS and drivers for everything. I've tried different memory and PSU but...
For those that got the 2005FPW, was the VGA cable already plugged into yours? I almost dropped the LCD screen because the VGA cable was threaded up through the styrofoam that holds the base.

wavshrdr (or any other Rebel XT owner),
Have you noticed that you can't get the camera to stay flat if you put it on a flat surface while the lens is attached? Mine will rock back and forth unless I take the lens off. It seems like maybe the lens is too heavy or something.

BestBuy.com has the Canon Digital Rebel XT Kit on sale for $949.99. Combine that with the $10 off every $100 (up to $500) you spend at this link and the final price is $899. I've been looking to get this for a couple weeks now and this is the best deal I've found.
