    E6300 hanging at times

I know you are not going to like this, but you should scrap the ABit and get the Gigabyte DQ6. It has 8 internal SATA connections and 4 external SATA's. The DQ6 is also ready for the upcoming Quad core procs with is 12 phase power blah blah. Anyway it is a superb board for the price and I am...

    E6400 or E6600

Well put. My goal was to get the best OC for my money, since I am a married man money is tight :) It is, however, encouraging to hear that the newer 6600's are getting better results. That being said I have no regrets getting a 6300. I have been running at 500MHz FSB 24/7 for almost 2 months...

    E6300 hanging at times

Sounds like an issue with your MoBo. I had high hops for the AB9 Pro. I assume you have updated your BIOS to the most recent and you are running XP Pro SP2. Make sure your drives are properlu configured in your BIOS, also make sure that your IDC controllers are sdet to Ultra DMA and NOT PIO...

    E6400 or E6600

Without a doubt go with eiter the 6300 or 6400. I have a 6300 OC'ed to 3.5GHz http://www.smokedog.org/500MHz/oc.html You can not beat the 6300 for the money! If you are strictly looking for the best OC stay away from the 4meg cache procs.

Check out my OC and temps.

When you factor in the superb overclock'ability, you really can't beat the price to performance of the E6300. This is by far one of the best systems I have ever built. P.S. I too wet my pants when I discovered how easy the OC was. :P

FYI: At 3.2 on my 6300 I was running stock voltage. It was going past 3.2 that required bumps in voltage.

Check out my OC and temps.

I am running my E6300 @ 3.5GHz (500MHz FSB). SP2004 stable 21hours. http://www.smokedog.org/500MHz/oc.html Can easily go higher with some PC8500 memory. P.S. Idle temp 51c and load temp 67c (as reported by CoreTemp which is approx 10c higher than Speed Fan reports). The load temps...

    Gigabyte DQ6 and E6600 OC'ing

Unbuffered memory is memory where the memory controller module drives the memory directly, instead of using a store-and-forward system like registered memory. Basically if you are building a PC, Gaming rig, Internet surfer...ie not a server class machine then you will almost always go with...

    Gigabyte DQ6 and E6600 OC'ing

Gigabyte only certifies this board up to PC6400 (DDR2 800), BUT the board does support PC8000 (DDR2 1000) and PC8500 (DDR21066). I think you can even run the new PC 8800 (DDR2 1100), but I do not know for sure.

Yes we have the same mobo (Gigabyte DQ6 F3 BIOS). To access the custom RAM settings press Ctrl-F1 inside the main BIOS screen. Then when you enter the M.I.T section you will see the now visiable RAM settings. This is byfar one of the best OC BIOS I have seen! You get great granualarity when...

    Gigabyte DQ6 and E6600 OC'ing

As I have said many many times the 965 chipset isvery picky about memory. I am using the Corsair 6400C4 running at 1000MHz @ 5-5-5-15. It runs like a champ at 800MHz @ 4-4-4-12 as well. :)

    Shoulda gotten a 6300.

The 6300 kicks arse. I am doing an87% overclock on air all day long. http://smokedog.org/500MHz/oc.html

    Gigabyte DQ6 and E6600 OC'ing

I have a couple of pics of my MIT settings about midway through this link: http://smokedog.org/500MHz/oc.html At 3.5GHz my load temps are about 62c (speed fan) and 71c(Core Temp). I am not too worried about it since the TCaseMax of this proc is 85c. Make sure that your memory can handle...

    Core 2 Duo heatspreaders

Thanks for the great info. I have a 6300 running at 3.5GHz and my idle temp is 51c (Core Temp) with load hitting 71 - 74. I am not too worried since the TCaseMax is 85c, BUT I will now lap my IHS and see what change I can get. Thanks again!!! P.S. Yes, I am Prime95 (on each core) stable...

    Gigabyte DQ6 and E6600 OC'ing

So what is the highest OC with the 6600 and the DQ6 have you seen? I personally have the DQ6 and the 6300 and am Prime95 stable for 24 hours at 3.5GHz (500MHz FSB). I ask because my coworker has the 6700 and the ASUS P5B and is not getting much love with his overclocking. I am curious if the...

My Experience: Core 2 Extreme X6800 and Asus P5W DH Motherboard (a step backwards with Arctic Silver 5!!!)

It is interesting that the unlocked multiplier drew you in, for I too was drooling over that. It was just timing and, mostly my wife, that dictated my purchase of the 6300. If I had my way I would have the 6800 too. I just find it intersting that the Allendale cores with low multipliers and 2...

My Experience: Core 2 Extreme X6800 and Asus P5W DH Motherboard (a step backwards with Arctic Silver 5!!!)

It's ironic that for 1/5 the price I am only slightly below you and almost a full 1ghz faster in RAM bandwidth. http://smokedog.org/500MHz/oc.html This is in no way an insult or taunt. I am just amazed that the baby Allendale can keep up with the Extreme version.

    E6300 Overclocking

I would definatly believe what is set in your BIOS. Whats strange is that you are using a 975 chipset board and not a 965. The reason I say that is strange is the mis-reading with clockgen could easily be explained with the 965 chipset board (since it is a new chipset) but the 975 is a well...

    E6300 Overclocking

Yes I know that but as it stands I am still tweaking and have not had a 24 hour window to dedicate. Once I get everything nailed down and can let it alone for 24+ hours I will. I have been stable at 500MHz FSB (3.5GHz) running 100+ hours straight Dvix transcoding, so I think I can do 24+...

How do you run your fans? poll included

Many new fans have a sone rating. The lower the level the quieter it is. Also almost all have a dBA rating and this too is the lower the dBA the quieter.

I am sure that Asus will be working out the problems. I cannot envision Asus (one of the best for overclocking) will sit back on this. I wanted to get the 6800 but financies (mostly wife) dictated otherwise. :) That being said I would like to see what kind of results I could get with the...

    E6300 Overclocking

What BIOS version? I know the DS3 mobos had issues untill their last BIOS revision. Also the Gigabyte boards (really the 965 chipset boards) are very particular about memory. Make sure your memory is not the problem. I have the DQ6 mobo running the 6300 @ 3.5GHz on a 500MHZ FSB. It took good...

I do not understand why my $200 E6300 runs all day long at a 500MHz FSB but the 6600, 6700 and 6800 (4meg cache procs) are not easily hitting 500MHZ. If you are curious here are my results with the E6300 @3.5GHz: http://smokedog.org/500MHz/oc.html
