I can't seem to find any and given that I have a NIC and Soundcard, with only 2 PCI slots I will be out of expansion slots, would really like to have 3.
Also would like this board to support ddr3 and quad core if possible...so basically a new chipset with 3 or more PCI slots.
You might want to wait on the BenQ fp241wZ version with AMA Z tech to help eliminate ghosting.
Also the DELL has been reported to have input lag while the BenQ does not. And the DELL still suffers from banding issues even after 3 revisions.
I believe you can install to the 131g then once you boot windows use a partition program to resize the partition to take up the entire space of the drive...after you upgrade your OS to recognize it.
3rd party partition programs can resize a partition and not lose the data.
It looks like the Striker board will only allow you to use one normal PCI slot if you have both PCI-e slots filled with the new cards (which are wide).
I need more than just one PCI slot, why are they making so few?
The software bundle is also better with the Striker, and it looks like it has more heat pipes. The big question is why would ASUS come out with 2 boards that basically are similar and price them so close together?
The striker is to be the highend board so why not price it 200-300 more than...
By the time ATI releases that card Nvidia will be well on their way to releasing their next gen card, and I doubt the R600 will hold a candle to the G80 anyway.
I don't know whats wrong with yours, I got 9000 3dmarks in 2006 version with a conroe 2.13ghz and I'm using crappy asus drivers for x64 and I have an XFX card.
To compare, the 7900gto card I pulled from the system was getting like 5200 3dmarks.
Maybe reinstall directx?
Check your device manager to make sure there are no !'s...
Check your display properties and make sure your adapter is selected not some generic windows one, and your monitor is selected not some default one...
Status changed to "Packed"...finally was able to get ahold of a real person on the phone and he "claims" it will be shipped out today and I will get it tomorrow.
Now where did I put that 30" LCD widescreen monitor?
Which means no sense in buying it this week since I can only enjoy it on the weekend.
Had it been earlier I would have bought a second one from Newegg to get it here by tomorrow and just SLI the two when ZZF gets off their arse and actually decides to do something.
and still the order sits on processing, cc not charged and no CANCEL order button available...
Someone else posted they had some problem with XFX and ZZF but I cannot get ahold of them on the phone to even talk with someone.
If I cannot get it tomorrow the order is as good as worthless to...
I mean by all brands and such are they all the same? Same clock core, same memory clock etc...?
I know xfx usually makes stock oc'd cards but haven't heard of any yet, but if all are going to be the same then I guess I will just buy any of them that I can get my hands on...
This looks like the cpu is limiting the graphics, because
1) A single 8800gtx gets almost 11k 2006 3dmarks,
2) even if a 7900gx2 only gets 30k in '05 where the sli 8800gtx gets about 50k marks...SLI 7900gtx's are faster than a 7900gx2 so they must get like 40k...not much of an improvement...
Hmm that's a lot higher than the 30% performance increase that was reported earlier...
Sounds like drivers are maturing for this card.
Also sounds like the price to performance will be better than the ATI card too.
I think what people aren't taking into account is that the 30% number was
1) On completely early revisions without proper drivers
2) might also be CPU limited
I don't think there is any reason that once complete optimized drivers are released and they actually use DX10 that that 30%...
I have a 550watt Ultra X powersupply...I don't see how it coudl be the monitor but the next time it happens I will try to turn off the monitor and back on to see if that clears it...
I suspect it is an Nvidia driver issue but I would think others would have experienced it then.
I've had this problem on Two different video cards so I don't think its the card, but it still could be an nvidia driver issue.
What happens is i'm going along fine and all of a sudden the bottom half (exactly half) of the screen will stop rendering any video and it will get some crossed...
Well I don't really know what you are talking about, but I want to see a review so I can decide if i want to buy the card or not. Since Anand looks like the only "reputable" reviewer planning a review I suppose it will have more credence than the many other short reviews done at other places...
Well apparently you cannot run over 2.75g in windows x32 so I would be screwed in that direction too...
I dont see why 64bit drivers aren't the norm now that every cpu made is 64bit. Why not take advantage of the extra speed and use a 64 bit OS?
And yes it is a driver issue, however...
Apparently this is the problem.
If you have 4gb of system memory on a machine with Windows XP pro 64bit you will not be able to get surround sound to work with an X-fi sound card.
I have the elite pro card and when I disabled 2 gig of ram surround starts working, with 4gb I can only get...
I just received my evga card from Newegg. It was indeed a 7900gtx, says so on the narrow side of the box.
Works fine so far at stock speeds, I ran 3dmark 2006 and got 5700-5800 marks with a core2 duo 2.13ghz.
On the asus site it says that the mb is QUAD-SLI ready...does that mean they are finally making it so an enduser can sli two 7950gx2's for quad power or is it just a marketing ploy?
The AM2 was the AMD chip for this cpu cycle, any new chips will not be out for another cycle which will most likely be 6months + from now.
AMD dropped the ball because they thought Intel's Conroe wouldn't be out for at least 3 more months which would have given them the chance to get closer...
Ok so this means that only the memory will be affected, so overclocking could only cause you to lose the cpu and memory but not the vid card or sound card for example?
Meaning by changing the FSB (since the multiplier is locked on all but the extreme edition) does that also increase say the PCI and PCI-X bus speeds thus taxing your other system cards besides the cpu?
I assume the FSB also affects the memory speeds, again will this endanger the other components?
