go with the dual p3s, like classy said if they are tulatins they will own the 2.2 northwood. I had to make a choice about 2 months ago and i do not regret the dual p3s
my ds3 took a crap on me and now im looking for a new board.
I know both the p5b and dq6 both overclock fairly well and have their share of pros and cons.
I like the dual rj-45 ports on the p5b but i like the all solid caps on the dq6.
I am leaning toward the dq6 b/c i am used to the...
when i run it in compatibility mode it gives me the accurate reading but when i go in the system properties it says i am only at 2.6xx ghz, so does vista downclock my cpu?
my current setup is in my sig, heres the issue, when i load cpu-z on vista instead of reading 8*426 it only read 6*426, when i swith back over to XP it reads 8*426. Now is vista not reading it correctly or is my cpu only running 6*426 when im in vista?
I have been running vista with an msdn license for a month or so and it have been smooth, it seems to almost run faster than XP, not at games ofcourse but with just everyday computing
yeah i download the drivers from the manufacturer of my motherboard, it works fine, i could not get it to boot off of RAID0 but it can detect my raid array
i made my own chipset cooler, i was in the same situation you were in. Here is a link to what i did http://moddedcomps.com/carbonfire/ click on the diy chipset cooler link
i agree, while you have the mobo out, install a new hsf, the stock one is garbage, get a good one so you can turn up the juice and have a poor mans EX6800 ;)
in the bios press Ctrl+F1 then go into MIT and you will see all the memory options. Can I ask why you have the multiplier set to 3.3? setting the multiplier past 2.5 doesn't seem to improve performance that much. I have the same board/cpu/ram you do, if you improved your cooling, you could...
i have the 965p-DS3 and i love it, i have my e6400 at 3.4ghz running 6+ hours on orthos, was debating on getting the p5b also but the ds3 was on sale at new egg at the time of my purchase so i bought that, cant go wrong with either from what i have seen
i think gigabyte is coming out w/ a ds3 that has 2 16xpcie, i was going through the same debate a while back and i found a great deal on a ds3 and have not regret a second of buying it. For me it all came down to what deal i could get at that time. Both boards are great, just depends on how much...
get faster rate ram, right now your fsb is 425mhz and even if your ram is at ddr-800 the ratio is still lower that 1:1. Try to get ram that can overclock to atleast 1:1 or even better 4:5, that seems to give the best performance/stability results
My timings were set to 5-5-5-15 not 4-4-4-12 and problems it was failing orthos, i bumped mem voltage like Roguestar suggested and it worked, thus far im 6 and half hours into orthos stress test. thanks for the help guys
i am at 420X8 but my system fails orthos about 1 hour into the stress test. I can run 3dmark06, superpimod 32m, and play battle field 2 for 3 hours without a problem. I am not too concerned with orthos because i can do everything on the oc except for a 6-12 hour stress test. So any ideas why it...
looks good but i would also consider a new psu, your 510 might not be able to safely handle 8800gts with an oc'd e6400 with the amount of drives you have. Just givin you a heads up, especially if you plan on sli in the future. Other than that great plan
my northbridge is on fire and i need something to cool it. The problem is i dont know what will fit due to my zalman 9500. Anyone have a setup that is working?
right now i have an ok set up:
965p-DS3
E6400
Corsair XMS2 ProSeries DDR2-6400
Ultra X-finity 500watt
zalman 9500
right now i am at a moderate oc 2.72ghz (340x8) with FSB:DRAM at 4:5. I am very cautious about going any higher with my current power supply.
I like to keep my computer...
