DVD causing BSOD

Have a Compaq 5822 desktop with a DVD/CD ROM. Every time a CD is placed into the drive (doesn't matter if DVD, CD data, CD music, etc) it BSOD. Message says something about VxD SCSI1. The computer doesn't have a SCSI. It has a 500 Celeron, 96mb memory. I'm trying not to do a system restore...

I can see now why it would not post... I see....said the blind man! It would have been easier to choose another motherboard and I'm not one to go scratching into a processor although the price of the Duron right now is almost worth the experiment. Thanks!

ASUS CUV266

All the boards have ATA 100 support. Your IDE devices especially the CD ROM and Burner may not be detected as running at UDMA. Install the 4 in 1's and SP 2 and everything should be able to be set to UDMA in windows after it is installed.

Using ECC memory on an ASUS P3V4X? (VIA Apollo Pro133 chipset)

But it eventually did after I put the FSB jumper on 100 rather than 133. Is this part of the problem why the board was recalled a while back? I only saw this board for several hours and I think the Revision was 1.02. The guy is running an 800 Duron with 256 Corsair PC133 and an ATI Rage Pro AGP...

best procedure for IE 5.5 upgrade?

Went to Windows update site and I'm using the 5.5 SP 1 on several machines with no problems. It seems to run a little faster than the earlier version of 5.5. Good luck

help!! my geforce2 has lost 16 mb of ram!!

Drakula Download and expand the file and look for the Microsoft Word file and open it. It has a history of all the different versions and what they fix including the 4.32's. I'm at 4.32 with Win2k and not much different

Plextor only running in PIO Mode in Win2k

Tried NONE in the BIOS and it remained at PIO Mode in Windows HOWEVER; on a hunch I tried setting the BIOS to regular CD ROM and BAM !!! UDMA Mode pops up finally !!! Good to go... Yeah, Baby yeah! Thanks to Pabster who gets a bump on his rating

Plextor only running in PIO Mode in Win2k

Yep, ASUS CUV266 VIA Pro 266 Chipset Just loaded Via 4 in1 4.32 yesterday. Can't get any more updated than that. I have "if UDMA availalbe" in the setting but it just says PIO mode below.

Plextor only running in PIO Mode in Win2k

Jumped those pins and the BIOS now sees it as UDMA 2 but in Windows the secondary channel for the Plextor still shows up in PIO Mode although UDMA is enabled. Oh well, half way there! Thanks for the quick response
