Does 2nd SDD need to be aligned?

yes the alignment goes away. @OP if you are installing windows 7 on a raid 0 ssd array then you do not need to align them. say what you want about alignment, but windows 7 is good to go. If you want, I'll even show you what I get with 2x30g ocz vertex, the slowest of the vertex series on...

1.6ghz atom slow?

I have a Dell Mini 10v with 2GB of ram and 30GB OCZ Vertex SSD with Firefox and Windows 7RTM and it feels faster than any laptop I've used before. I mean I haven't used those 17inch desktop replacement laptops but this is a netbook we're talking about. Sorry to say to the OP but the regular...

ssd purchase question

The consensus is to check that box meaning turn off cache buffer flushing, but when I went to uncheck it my speeds when up ever so much and my reboot time dropped 3 seconds. So it's all up to experimentation I guess?

Just keep the blacks together and the Greens together. Even if you see faster seq read speeds, the greens will slow the access time of the blacks down.

Overclocking Q6600 healthy temperatures?

a bit on the high side but I guess that's what you'd expect with 1.43V I get 3.6GHz on 1.36v and I'm no troll. Just luck dude, just luck. and @OP small FTT would tell you rather quickly if your set up is stable. I had to increase to 1.36v from 1.35v @ 3.6GHz to not crash Prime95. Temps...

GTX 295 Temps: Too high?

has anyone come up with drivers besides the 185.20 that supports auto downclocking? the 185.20 makes company of heroes graphics flash and therefore unplayable. i guess it's still in beta

Reapplying Thermal Compound to GTX 295

hey TidusZ, what temps are you getting for just regular game playing? I know 90-100C+ is for stress testing but that's really hot to me and at 100% fan too. Have you considered, if you don't already have, a fan blowing across the length of the card?

ok screw it. ima just go with BSPlayer until i reformat next month! thanks for everyone's suggestions! after so many years with ATI, I finally jumped over to nVIDIA and I can say it was the best move every, save the very minor video playback! :D

yea media player classic and all the other players work, but for some reason my classic gives me a black screen when i go full screen! :( it did it with the x1900xt too, so it's not the card.

ok i tried running it to 500/800, but still no go. Maybe its a codec problem, but i reinstalled everything! man this sucks, stupid WMP! My GTS came running at 576/850 tho. That's the factory stock! lol lucky me! :P

Thanks but something is up with my windows media player 10! Messed up colors and/or black and white pictures. All the other players work fine tho. Weird. Maybe I'll reinstall WMP or something. Hopefully that will fix it! :)

My 8800GTS came today!

YAY I got my 8800GTS!! Funny thing is...I bought a regular non-overclocked GTS...and if you look at the clocks in NV control panel, it's that of the 8800GTS Superclocked!! OMG! Did I get the best deal or what!? Anyways, just a first run @ my 24/7 CPU speed. Will overclock in the weeks to come...

fan choice and Thermalright Ultra 120Extreme?

I'm using Yates and they work just fine. Mine are the open flange ones. I read somewhere that you can just take pliers and snap the the flanges off and they work just fine. Dremel works too, so it's up to you. :) Good Luck

I'm not gonna even run TAT at 1.56v 3.6GHz because as soon as I hit orthos, temps shot up to 64C, meaning ~70C if running TAT. YIKES! Update: 3.5GHz 1.51vcore 1.49 vdroop 24C ambient Orthos stable 8 hours overnight. Avg temp was 60C, peak at 64C, low at 56C! :D I'm keeping it at 3.5GHz, but...

yeah, for my next build next year i'm looking in to water cooling! update: running at 3.5GHz 1.51vcore 1.49 vdroop 25C ambient, 60C in orthos with tat monitoring. My chip is an L624 which I got pretty early during retail release. pic

C2D 6420 Tcase higher than Tjunction

that's really weird. I've seen other with tcase higher than tjunction at idle, but tjunction higher than tcase at load. that's also weird. It's true that tjunction should be ~15C higher than tcase, though. Perhaps something wrong with the onboard sensor on the motherboard?
