    RH7.1 and Samba problems

RedHat sucks. But I doubt that helps you. Yes dump it, and get Webmin.

    Where to put temperature sensors?

CPU sensors usually go on the side of the heatsink (unless you're game and want to file away part of the socket), GPU sensors usually go on the back of the card, directly under the GPU, and case sensors would usually go as hig as you can get them, because hot air rises

    SDRAM question

AndyHui: Thanks, that's what I thought. Shathal: Yeah, it's good quality stuff, Infineon. (it's not really worth saving 5 or 10 dollars for something that could come back and bite me in the arse in a months time...).

    SDRAM question

I have an old server running Linux and the board uses PC66 SDRAM (if there ever was such a `stabdard'. Will there be any problems putting a new sick of PC133 SDRAM into the mobo if it still runs at a 66MHz FSB?

    Half Life: Blue Shift... Opinions?

About 2/3 the size of OpFor, but, for those who don't have it, it comes packaged with OpFor, adding to the value.

    Emperor: Battle for Dune Freezes!

It is freezing because I think you have a ripped copy of it (unless the release date is different where you are from). Buy it instead.

    USB and programming

This is a very broad question I know. How does USB work? Where can I find resources to program for it? I'd like to program for several temperature monitors, and LCD outputs, and plugging bared wires into my COM, game, and Serial ports us just plain messy (ugly too) Thanks for any help.

    Router, Switch, hub....what's the difference????

A hub simply connects several networked computers together, and broadcasts all packets on every port. A Switch is the same as the hub, but can understand where the packet is going, and only sends it on the correct port (if it knows which it is). A router connects two or more networks together...

    New PSU Time?

Probably the 450W.. I get the impression that this isn't the most things that are going to be hooked up to this computer in the near future. More (a resonable amount) is always better.

    New PSU Time?

I'll say. That's a lot of power you're drawing for a weedy little 250W PSU, especially when it's oc'd to almost a gig. Go with the Enermax, and see if you can get one with a thermal diode as well.

Small Server for a local lan party.

Running Linux on the server (console only, it's a server for gods sake) would let you increase the player limit by 4-6 people probably, because it has to devote less resources to the GUI.

Small Server for a local lan party.

Probably just one server at a time... The recommended minimum for a HL server is 233, so you'd just cut the mustard. Fast RAM will help, as will a fast HDD, but not as much as a faster processor. To run, say, UT and Q3A at the same time, you'd need, IMHO, 128-256MB PC133 RAM, 500mHz, 7200rpm...

    What CD-R drive to buy ? I don't want a cheap crappy one ! :-)

Just-Link is marginally superior to Burn-Proof, not an issue atm, but as read speeds continue to ramp up, it may become one.

Any freeware memory testers out there???

    Yep, i'd go with Memtest86.

Anyone know the acceptable temperature range for an Athlon Classic (taken using a thermistor on the Heatsink)?

Is this type of setup possible?

If you don't want them to enter your LAN, get a firewall. If you don't want anyone to enter your game, make sure it is not a public server (usually on the command line or in the options or config file...)
