Thnx to all! Just found and ad for a Seagate 120g with 5yr, for 49.95 and it's right doen the street. BUT!!! I had so much trouble with anything NORTON, which program should I use to xfr the old slave to the new drive??? G

Thnx guys. I'll go with the Seagate 80g; BUT please read on... After I buy this one and install as master. , in Jan-March of next year, (when a debugged Vista SP2-3-4-5-etc) comes out; I plan to build a new machine with an ASUS 939 & AMD cpu. Will this hd be able to xfr to the new machine??? G

Replacing the HD in an emachines 600is. Which is better, Seagate or Western Digital. I'll get an 80 g and it becomes the master with the old a temp. slave. G

More than likely you dislodged dust from the machine , and it got into one of the fan bearings. Get a can of compressed air. and blow out thr whole machine.Follow up with WD-40 on the fans. G

I don't know if this helps, but I've tested Vista professional (V2) Beta and with an LAN with 62 workstations and 5 different and distinct programs/usages--- it stinks! It's twice as hard to get into (log in twice to three times depending on the application) and has security holes I could drive...

Uses Ultra ATA manager and says "no conflict". Am using ME at this time, waiting on the bugs to be worked out of VISTA. Don't like Big Button XP. The Beta version of Vista Professional (v2) is still a mess, so I don't know when a home version will EVER be viable. Am planning on building a...

After a normal start-up, the hard drive has now (twice, months apart) froze/stuttered AFTER selecting IE. No usb add-ons were connected at the time. Emachines 600is IntelCeleron Trigem Board OEM 5400 hd Lexmark Z42 printer. G
